Groq raised $650 million to expand its inference cloud business six months after licensing its semiconductor technology to Nvidia and losing its founder.

The funding round was led by Disruptive and Infinitum. Groq's press announcement said existing investors also participated.

The company did not disclose a new valuation. Groq was valued at $6.9 billion after its September $750 million fundraising round.

Groq pivots to cloud infrastructure after Nvidia deal In December 2025, Nvidia signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement for Groq's language processing unit (LPU) technology, a chip designed specifically for running Al models.

As part of that arrangement, Nvidia hired away Groq co-founder and CEO Jonathan Ross, president Sunny Madra, and other staff.

Nvidia went on to unveil its own hardware system built on the licensed technology, the LPX inference platform, at its GTC conference in March.

Stani Kulechov, founder of the decentralized lending protocol Aave (AAVE), has raised concerns that the United Kingdom’s current stablecoin regulatory framework may inadvertently drive issuers to more favorable jurisdictions. While acknowledging recent progress by the Bank of England (BoE), Kulechov pointed to a lingering requirement that he argues undermines the economic feasibility of operating within the country.

The BoE recently removed a previously proposed limit that would have restricted individuals from holding more than £20,000 in stablecoins. Kulechov praised this move as a positive step toward broader adoption. However, he emphasized that a separate rule requiring stablecoin issuers to deposit 30% of their reserve assets in a non-interest-bearing central bank account remains in effect. According to Kulechov, this provision effectively functions as a tax on issuers, as those funds cannot generate returns to support operational costs.

Economic Viability at Stake

Kulechov explained that the inability to earn yield on a significant portion of reserves directly impacts the business model of stablecoin issuers. Without the ability to generate returns on 30% of backing assets, the cost of compliance and issuance rises sharply. He argued that this regulatory burden could make the UK an unattractive base for stablecoin companies, potentially pushing innovation and economic activity to regions with more accommodating policies, such as the European Union under its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework or parts of Asia.

 Ethereum has added a new independent research organization backed by Joe Lubin, Bitmine, and Sharplink, bringing together five former Ethereum Foundation researchers.

According to an announcement from Ethlabs, the newly launched nonprofit research group has secured support from Bitmine, Sharplink, Anchorage, Octant, SNZ, and other Ethereum ecosystem

participants.

The organization did not disclose how much funding it has received.

Founded by former senior Ethereum Foundation researchers Ansgar Dietrichs, Barnabé Monnot, Caspar Schwarz Schilling, Josh Rudolf, and Julian Ma, Ethlabs has been created as an independent institution focused on technical research for the Ethereum network. The group said its work will cover areas including settlement speed, network capacity, native asset issuance, cross-chain interoperability and Ethereum's monetary design.

The launch comes as Ethereum's development ecosystem increasingly relies on independent organizations alongside the Ethereum Foundation.

The Spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been experiencing a prolonged period of negative performance.

Galaxy Research reports that net outflows of $6.35 billion over the past 30 days have caused U.S. spot Bitcoin [BTC] ETFs to record their worst monthly performance since their inception.

This number is the highest of all 582 rolling 30-day periods that the firm tracks, highlighting a notable exodus of institutional capital from Bitcoin investment products.

If the trend continues, such prolonged outflows could lessen the short-term demand support for Bitcoin prices. Needless to say, these outflows usually indicate waning investor sentiment, profit-taking, or a more general shift toward risk-off positioning.

During these 30 days, BlackRock’s IBIT experienced the biggest outflows, totaling $4.51 billion, making it the loser of the month. Morgan Stanley’s MSBT, on the other hand, saw $1.25 billion in inflows after winning in these 30 days.

While this happened, Bitcoin’s price dropped from about $76K in early May to $64K at the time of publication.

As can be seen, it’s the Bitcoin price that triggered the outflows, which caused the price to move from a bullish to a bearish zone.

On the other hand, the Ripple [$XRP] ETF and Hype [$HYPE] ETF both recorded inflows during the past month.However, in the face of this lackluster momentum, Franklin Templeton submitted a proposal to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to establish a new ETF that would turn stock dividends into exposure to Bitcoin.

According to a recent filing, the Franklin US Equity Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF is the proposed product that aims to replicate the VettaFi US Large-Cap 500 Bitcoin DRIP Index.

In these past 30 days, BlackRock’s IBIT experienced the biggest outflows, whereas Morgan Stanley’s MSBT saw the largest inflows.

Bitcoin price has limited downside, likely near bottom, contrarian indicator suggests

If you’re wondering just how much lower bitcoin BTC$62,272.98 is likely to drop, the answer, at least according to one historically accurate contrarian indicator, is not much.

That's the conclusion from an indicator that might seem to signal a bearish shift in sentiment but has tended to presage a more bullish outlook.

The indicator is based on two moving averages: Bitcoin’s 50-week simple moving average (SMA) and the 100-week average. The 50-week average, representing roughly one year, is very close to dropping below the 100-week line. A shorter-term measure is often seen as a more accurate reflection of recent attitudes, so the cross would trigger what analysts call a "bear cross." At current trajectories, it could happen as soon as next week.

While that might sound scary to bulls, it is potentially positive news.

There have been three such bear crosses in bitcoin's history, and each marked a market bottom, signaling the end of a decline and the beginning of a three-year rally. The impending cross, therefore, suggests the bear market has nearly run its course and the bottom is near.

Critics would argue that three past instances aren't enough to draw a definite conclusion. While that is true, the contrarian record of the bear cross is consistent with the reputation of ultra-long-duration moving averages as "lagging" indicators.
