The Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain network, Algorand, has revealed that it is pushing toward becoming quantum-resistant by the end of 2027. The announcement comes as concerns about the post-quantum threat rise in the crypto space.

According to a blog post by the network’s team, the quantum threat has been deemed a serious risk to the security of blockchain technology. Hence, Algorand has outlined a roadmap detailing its efforts, plans, progress, milestones, and ongoing research in the area of post-quantum cryptography (PQC).

Algorand Pushes for Quantum Resistance
Google Quantum AI recently identified Algorand among a set of smart-contract platforms that can achieve PQC. The blockchain already executed its first PQC-secured transaction in 2025 and intends to complete the full PQC transition in less than two years.

“Post-quantum migration is a balancing act. Moving too slowly leaves systems exposed to future quantum attacks, but moving too quickly can mean relying on algorithms and implementations that have not yet been sufficiently battle-tested,” Algorand’s team explained.

The first step in the roadmap is introducing support for native post-quantum accounts in the protocol release scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. Previously enabled Falcon accounts via the Algorand Virtual Machine (AVM) currently demonstrate the viability of post-quantum signatures on the Algorand protocol, but these are not natively supported by the ledger. The introduction of native post-quantum account support will give room for network-level support for multiple concurrent signature schemes.

After the Algorand team establishes a clear direction for standardizing a new derivation scheme for lattice-based post-quantum keys, the network will implement PQC updates to its tools.

Heavy selling pushed XRP to its lowest level of the weekend session, but strong buying quickly erased most of the decline and returned the token to its recent trading range.
RP briefly broke below a closely watched support level on Sunday before buyers stepped in.

The token fell to roughly $1.12 on some of the session's heaviest volume, then rebounded toward $1.15 within hours, leaving traders focused less on the decline itself and more on whether the latest test of support signals accumulation or another pause in a broader downtrend.
XRP continues to trade inside the same broad $1.10-$1.30 range that has contained price action for most of June.

• Analysts remain split between viewing the range as a base-building phase and a continuation pattern within a larger downtrend.

XRP fell from $1.1451 to $1.1383 during the 24-hour session, a decline of roughly 0.6%.

• Selling accelerated around 21:00 UTC when volume surged to 85.8 million XRP, pushing price down to a session low near $1.1213.

• Buyers quickly absorbed the move, driving XRP back toward $1.148 and recovering most of the breakdown before consolidation set in.

The upgrade introduces B20, a new native token standard built directly into the node software rather than deployed as a smart contract. Base engineers describe B20 as a superset of the ERC-20 standard, meaning tokens built on it stay compatible with existing wallets, exchanges, and decentralized apps.

Tokens issued under B20 run as Rust precompiles. Network engineers say this approach lowers transaction costs, reduces the amount of data nodes need to store, and increases throughput compared to standard smart contract tokens.

Built-In Compliance Tools
Base built B20 with stablecoin issuers and tokenized asset platforms in mind. The standard ships with compliance tools, including role-based permissions, optional supply caps, and a policy registry that lets issuers set transfer rules for specific addressesIssuers can also freeze or seize tokens from blocked addresses through a function called burnBlocked, a feature aimed at companies operating under regulatory requirements.

“Beryl makes Base a first-class issuance platform with the B20 token standard, more capital efficient with a reduced withdrawal delay, and more scalable with Reth V2,” Conner Swenberg and Base Engineering Team said this week.

Two B20 token types are available at launch. Asset tokens support configurable decimals and rebasing. Stablecoin tokens use a fixed six decimals and a self-declared currency code.

Even so, volume remained relatively low at around $25 million. Liquidity also continued to weaken, with the liquidity-to-market-cap ratio sitting at 0.96%, according to CoinMarketCap. That decline came as selling pressure intensified across both Spot and derivatives markets.

Why is MYX facing heavy selling?
MYX’s decline this month appeared to coincide with large token transfers linked to a multisig wallet.

According to Arkham data, more than 17.96 million MYX tokens worth $2.46 million moved from a Gnosis Safe Proxy wallet to Bitget. Another wallet transferred 50 million MYX, worth $6.41 million.

On top of that, 12 million MYX tokens worth over $1.5 million moved from a Bitget cold wallet to a hot wallet. While these transfers do not confirm selling, they typically increase the likelihood of tokens entering circulation.

Taken together, roughly 80 million MYX tokens worth about $10.4 million became available for potential distribution.The market appeared unable to absorb that supply, adding pressure to price action.

In fact, long liquidations surged over the past 12 hours. More than $230,000 in long positions were liquidated, compared to just $7,400 in shorts. That suggested leveraged bulls were caught on the wrong side of the move.

On top of that, Open Interest dropped sharply from above $3 million to roughly $2 million. Holder revenue also fell to zero, signaling weaker protocol activity.
