This combination reflects reduced conviction among market participants. Rather than attracting fresh demand, $XPL experienced lower engagement from traders despite remaining among actively traded assets.

The decline in volume suggested that buyers had stepped back after the recent recovery attempt. As a result, the token struggled to sustain upside pressure and lost ground near a key resistance region.

The Hong Kong Institute of Finance and Banking (HKIMR) has cited XRP as a prime example of token embedding.

A recent paper published by HKIMR highlights XRP as an outstanding example of token embedding in the digital economy.

The research report, titled "Heterogeneity, Tokenization, and Wealth Dynamics in the Digital Economy," was released in June 2026 and authored by Cong Linwei and He Zhiheng. While not specifically focused on XRP, the paper uses this digital asset as a prime example of how native tokens can facilitate economic activity on blockchain platforms.

In exploring the concept of token embedding, the researchers juxtapose XRP with Ethereum and OmiseGo as platform paradigms where user participation is closely linked to the use of native tokens.

The authors point out that XRP can reduce international payment and settlement costs on the Ripple network. They cite this feature as a practical example of token embedding, a framework where platform economic activity relies on its native digital asset.

The researchers further explain that token embedding occurs when users must use the network's native token to access or participate in its services. Taking XRP as an example, this token serves as a mechanism that can both facilitate cross-border value transfer and help reduce transaction costs.
