Wrapped XRP goes live on Solana, broadening DeFi access for Ripple-linked token


Wrapped $XRP went live on Solana on Friday, issued by custodian Hex Trust and bridged through LayerZero, making the token available inside Solana's DeFi apps for the first time.

$XRP holders can now use the wrapped asset on Jupiter, Phantom, Titan Exchange, and Meteora without selling their underlying position.

Each wXRP is backed 1:1 by native $XRP held in segregated custody accounts and is redeemable at any time, according to Hex Trust.

The Solana launch is one leg of a broader rollout Hex Trust disclosed in December 2025, which also targets Ethereum, Optimism, and HyperEVM. The move fits a pattern that has accelerated through 2025 and 2026, where tokens that started their life on one chain are being bridged to others to capture yield and liquidity that did not exist at launch.

$XRP has historically functioned as a payment-rail token settled directly on the $XRP Ledger. Solana has built the opposite use case, a throughput-optimized smart contract platform where the DeFi and memecoin activity actually lives.

The piece of infrastructure underneath this deal is LayerZero, the cross-chain messaging protocol that has quietly won most of the bridge volume that used to flow through Wormhole, Nomad, and Ronin before those protocols were exploited for more than $1 billion combined between 2022 and 2024.

Whether $XRP generates meaningful DeFi volume on Solana is a separate question. The wrapped asset is live, but the test is whether holders actually use it.

#South Korea's Unification Ministry stated Friday it has no knowledge of any formal U.S. protest or intelligence-sharing restrictions, following media reports suggesting Washington expressed frustration over a cabinet minister's public disclosure of a previously unconfirmed North Korean nuclear facility.The controversy stems from remarks made by Unification Minister Chung Dong-young during a parliamentary hearing on March 6, where he identified a uranium enrichment facility in Kusong, North Korea — a site not previously confirmed publicly — alongside the already-known locations of Yongbyon and Kangson. South Korean officials say Chung's statements were drawn from publicly available information, including international research publications, and that the United States had accepted this explanation after the South Korean ministry addressed an inquiry from the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.South Korean newspaper Dong-A Ilbo reported that Washington conveyed its displeasure to Seoul over the disclosure, with sources in both countries indicating the U.S. signaled it might partially limit North Korea-related intelligence sharing. According to the report, Chung's remarks were a triggering factor amid wider accumulated tensions between the two allies over foreign policy and security disagreements.When asked directly whether intelligence sharing had been restricted, a U.S. State Department spokesperson declined to comment, citing standard protocol on intelligence matters. The U.S. Embassy in Seoul also offered no immediate response.Adding another layer to the dispute, Chung attributed part of his Kusong remarks to statements made by International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi. Cardano Founder Challenges Bitcoin Recovery Claims In BIP-361 Plan
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has criticized the latest Bitcoin (BTC) proposal to protect vulnerable assets from quantum-computing threats. The three-step approach touted as a possible lifeline might face another setback due to Satoshi-era coins.
Hoskinson analyzed developments in the Bitcoin ecosystem, comparing solutions to those of top altcoins. The BIP-361, which seeks to save more than a third of Bitcoin’s supply, approximately worth over $536 billion, has come under scrutiny in recent weeks. 

The plan is expected to make all assets quantum-resistant to prevent losses likely to occur in the next five years. However, experts say freezing coins that don’t migrate to quantum-resistant addresses will not solve all problems.

In the coming months, the three-phase proposal will replace older signature schemes. Initially, inflows to quantum-vulnerable addresses will be blocked before legacy coins are frozen. The final phase is more contentious because it allows recovery of Bitcoins that missed their deadlines.

While it’s acceptable to many, it doesn’t account for coins held before 2013. These assets, about 1.7 million BTC, were created before the key generation of BIP-39.

“34% of all Bitcoin is vulnerable… and here’s your hard fork here. They don’t want to admit it, but this will require a hard fork. Users with frozen quantum vulnerable funds can construct a quantum safe product to recover funds… that’s a lie! And you know it. 1.7 million coins can’t do that. It’s not possible.”

Hoskinson and other critics noted that the plan could recover some of the assets, making it not an entirely bad proposal. He noted that inaction could result in massive losses if quantum computers breach Bitcoin’s cryptography.

The North Korean secret crypto-agents don’t rest, so the Ethereum Foundation decided it was time they put on the detective’s hat to track them before they too fell victims to them, just as Drift Protocol was at the beginning of the month. According to the blog post, the Ethereum Foundation teamed up with Secureum, The Red Guild, and Security Alliance (SEAL) in late 2024 to roll out said program. The initiative offered stipends to people carrying out public‐goods security work across the Ethereum ecosystem.

Film Review: “Self Custody” Indie Film about Bitcoin on Amazon Prime
In the wild west of money, where a forgotten password to your Bitcoin wallet can mean the difference between fortune and ruin, comes the taut 31-minute Bitcoin action-thriller Self Custody (2026). Co-directed by Garrett Patten (who also stars as the desperate lead) and Fernando Ferro, the micro-feature is produced by Patten’s own TBK Productions in association with Tucci & Company. 

The film features Entourage alum Adrian Grenier in a key supporting role, alongside UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo in his acting debut, and House star Odette Annable. After a private Sundance screening and pickup by Inaugural Entertainment for distribution, Self Custody (2026) arrived on Tubi and Plex before landing on Amazon Prime Video—delivering a compact, terrifying yet entertaining tale drawn from real-world stories of lost Bitcoin wallets.

Scott, a family man, finds himself in financial trouble after failing to organize his finances when his family friend and accountant gives him a call. Turns out Scott had gotten a signing bonus from some tech company he worked for in 2014, paid in Bitcoin. Today, presumably well into the 2020’s, that bonus is worth over 14 million dollars. The film follows Scott as he tries to claim this Bitcoin, quickly realizing his self-custody setup was done improperly, and he does not remember the PIN code to the wallet. 

The film is overall negative on self-custody as a practice, presenting the absolute worst-case scenario for a Bitcoin or crypto owner. A series of mistakes, presented as innocent but really born out of a lack of study or knowledge of the technology and industry, led Scott to catastrophic loss, in admittedly a very entertaining and action-packed fashion.
