OCBC Launches GOLDX Tokenized Gold Fund on ETH and SOL

Following subscription, GOLDX tokens are delivered directly to investors' blockchain wallets, OCBC said Monday.

Singapore's OCBC bank has launched GOLDX, a tokenized physical gold fund issued on both the Ethereum and Solana blockchains, in partnership with its asset management arm Lion Global Investors and digital asset exchange DigiFT.

The token is aimed at institutional investors, hedge funds, and asset managers, and can be purchased using stablecoins or fiat currencies. Following subscription, GOLDX tokens are delivered directly to investors' blockchain wallets, OCBC said Monday.

GOLDX provides on-chain exposure to the LionGlobal Singapore Physical Gold Fund, which launched in December and held approximately $525 million in assets under management as of April 16. OCBC said the product is designed to attract Web3 participants and high-net-worth individuals operating in blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystems.

Cut the red tape: 39 financial giants demand an emergency fast-track for Europe's blockchain pilot



European financial firms and technology groups are urging lawmakers to speed up changes to rules governing distributed ledger technology, warning the region risks falling behind the U.S. in digital finance.

In a joint letter, 39 signatories including Boerse Stuttgart Group, Nasdaq and fintech associations across several European Union (EU) countries asked the European Commission and Parliament to separate the digital ledger technology (DLT) pilot regime from a broader legislative package under review.

They argue that handling the rules on their own would allow quicker updates, Bloomberg reports. The DLT pilot, in place since 2023, lets firms test how tokenized versions of assets like shares and bonds can trade and settle using blockchains.

It sits within a wider set of 18 financial laws now moving through the EU’s legislative process, a path industry groups say could take years.

The coalition is pushing for practical changes, including expanding the types of assets allowed, raising transaction limits to 150 billion euros ($176 billion) and removing expiry dates on licenses. These changes, they argue, would give firms room to build real markets rather than small trials.

The letter comes as the U.S. shapes laws regulating the space, including the Genius Act, meant to help bring crypto further into mainstream finance.

The European Commission has signaled it prefers to pass the full legislative package together as part of its broader plan to mobilize savings into investment.

MIT Digital Currency Initiative director Neha Narula has laid out a proposed roadmap for making Bitcoin resilient to a future cryptographically relevant quantum computer, arguing the network should prioritize a practical, low-risk path that lets users secure their coins now rather than waiting for consensus on harder questions such as how to handle unmoved coins.

In a post published April 20, Narula said Bitcoin does not need “100% of the answers immediately” before taking meaningful action. Instead, she argued for a staged approach: deploy a post-quantum-safe output type and signature scheme through a soft fork, coordinate wallet and application support around it, and push users toward migration well before any true quantum emergency arrives.

Bitcoin Needs Low-Risk Quantum Defenses Now
Her core thesis is straightforward. “We should make the low-harm, low-risk, high-benefit, safety-critical mitigations NOW, and save the high-harm, high-risk mitigations for LATER, when we know with more certainty a CRQC is close,” she wrote, using CRQC to refer to a cryptographically relevant quantum computer.

The proposal Narula favors centers on P2MR, described in BIP 360, combined with a new post-quantum signature opcode and cryptographic agility. In her framing, that combination would allow Bitcoin users to move funds into an output type that remains safe against a quantum attacker, provided they do not reveal a non-post-quantum public key through address reuse or similar behavior.

“If this is done, it gives Bitcoin users the ability to move their coins to a safe output type immediately, having confidence their coins are safe even if a powerful CRQC appears, without worrying about future softforks,” she wrote. “The best candidate for this I have seen so far is P2MR (BIP 360) in conjunction with a new PQ signature opcode and cryptographic agility.”

With exchange netflows indicating a massive -505 billion $SHIB over the last 24 hours, Shiba Inu just printed one of its strongest on-chain signals this month.

Exchange outlfows are piling up

That number shows a large net outflow from exchanges, indicating that more tokens are being taken out than put in. This kind of movement is typically linked to accumulation behavior, as opposed to sudden selling pressure.

$SHIB is still recovering structurally from a protracted decline. After months of steady decline, price action is still comparatively compressed near local lows, trading in a small range. Because the asset is still below important moving averages, the overall trend has not yet turned bullish.

The net outflow alters the context. Large token withdrawals from exchanges usually indicate that holders are shifting their holdings into long-term or cold storage positions. As a result, there is less readily available supply for spot sales, which may lead to upward pressure if demand starts to rise. To put it simply, there is less immediate liquidity to absorb purchases when there are fewer tokens on exchanges.

Shiba Inu activity is growing

The number of active sending addresses has grown, suggesting increased involvement. It is a positive development that exchange inflow averages have decreased significantly at the same time. The bullish implication of the net outflow data is strengthened by lower inflows, which indicate fewer tokens are being put up for sale.
