Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has criticized the latest Bitcoin (BTC) proposal to protect vulnerable assets from quantum-computing threats. The three-step approach touted as a possible lifeline might face another setback due to Satoshi-era coins.Hoskinson analyzed developments in the Bitcoin ecosystem, comparing solutions to those of top altcoins. The BIP-361, which seeks to save more than a third of Bitcoin’s supply, approximately worth over $536 billion, has come under scrutiny in recent weeks. The plan is expected to make all assets quantum-resistant to prevent losses likely to occur in the next five years. However, experts say freezing coins that don’t migrate to quantum-resistant addresses will not solve all problems.In the coming months, the three-phase proposal will replace older signature schemes. Initially, inflows to quantum-vulnerable addresses will be blocked before legacy coins are frozen. The final phase is more contentious because it allows recovery of Bitcoins that missed their deadlines.While it’s acceptable to many, it doesn’t account for coins held before 2013. These assets, about 1.7 million BTC, were created before the key generation of BIP-39.“34% of all Bitcoin is vulnerable… and here’s your hard fork here. The Meta-specific markets tell the cleaner version of the story. A Polymarket book on "Meta headcount above ___ in Q1?" with about $46,000 in volume is essentially certain Meta finished the quarter above 75,000 employees (99%) and 76,000 (98%), but only gives 32% odds it stayed above 77,000 and 11% odds above 78,000. That implies an end-of-Q1 headcount near 76,500, down from the 79,000 figure Reuters used as the baseline. About 2,500 Meta jobs are already gone. The May 20 wave will take that to roughly 11,000 cuts on the year.

The market is pricing the cuts as good news for the stock. A separate "What price will Meta hit in April?" book with $66,000 in volume has Meta already clearing $700 (85% Yes), $730 priced at 42%, and a downside dip to $540 trading at just 5.75%. According to the analyst, the first stage of the cycle, highlighted in the first green box on the chart, began with a “Distribution” phase that occurred between about $100,000 and $120,000 in mid-2024. During this period, Bitcoin traded in a choppy downward pattern. This type of movement indicated that large holders were selling their Bitcoin amid strong demand from retail traders buying aggressively near the market top.
