"This is the opening line of an Al-generated video which is part of Iran's meme campaign - built around Lego-style animation and rap soundtracks, which have accumulated billions of views online. The line captures the strange reality of contemporary politics: news is often most effectively disseminated not through journalism but humour, memes and entertainment.Since late February, pro-Iranian media groups most notably, the X account Explosive Media have flooded social media with Al-generated video content mocking Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and US foreign policy. It has been dubbed "slopaganda" but the sophistication is striking. These videos contain disinformation and antisemitic tropes but do not look or feel like state propaganda despite the spokesperson for Explosive Media admitting to the BBC that the Iranian government is a client. They capture the internet zeitgeist: fast, funny, visually familiar and designed for virality. Trojan horses The success of these memes lies in their audience strategy. They do not target people actively seeking news. Instead, they mimic the language of everyday internet culture to reach those who are not following events in the Middle East at all. Humour is the mechanism they use to get reach. These videos function as Trojan horses, drawing viewers in with recognisable imagery, references and music - while communicating a narrative about American overreach, dysfunction and corruption. As Emerson Brooking, a US-based expert in disinformation, notes, this kind of content reaches "politically uninvested people who otherwise wouldn't have engaged with war-related content".

BlackRock clients have added nearly $284 million worth of Bitcoin exposure in a single day. The inflow came through BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, showing strong institutional demand.

This move did not happen in isolation. Total Bitcoin ETF inflows reached about $663 million on the same day. That marks the highest daily inflow in nearly three months. As a result, the market is once again focusing on institutional activity.

Institutional Demand Picks Up

BlackRock’s ETF led the inflows with nearly $284 million. This makes it the top contributor for the day. At the same time, other major players also joined in. Fidelity and ARK added strong inflows as well. Together, these firms pushed total ETF demand much higher.

This steady buying shows that institutions are still accumulating Bitcoin. Moreover, this is not a one-day trend. ETF inflows have remained positive for several days in a row. This consistency adds confidence to the market.

Crypto markets are having a strong Tuesday. Bitcoin jumped nearly $4,000 in 12 hours, hitting $74,461. Ethereum surged 7.85% to $2,366 and XRP climbed 3.11% to $1.36. The total crypto market cap crossed $2.52 trillion, adding over $100 billion in a single day.

The move was fast and largely mechanical. Here is what actually drove it.

The Short Squeeze That Started Everything

Reports of potential progress toward a US-Iran deal acted as a catalyst across risk assets. Traders who had been betting against the market were caught badly positioned and forced to close their short positions in a hurry.

The result was a cascade of $425 million in short liquidations, part of a total $530 million wiped from leveraged positions on the day. When shorts get forced out at scale, they buy to close their positions, which adds buying pressure on top of buying pressure. That mechanical dynamic is why the move looked so sudden and aggressive.

According to a recent letter to investors obtained by Bloomberg, short-selling firm Orso Partners has established a short position in Affiliated Managers Group (AMG). AMG is an investment firm managing $813 billion, and its holdings include AQR Capital Management, founded by Cliff Asness.

Orso's logic is straightforward: AQR's core growth engine in recent years—its tax optimization strategy—is facing a direct threat from tightening regulations. Once regulations are implemented, AMG's profits will be the first to be affected.

Following the report, AMG's stock price fell as much as 1.7% to $294.28 that day, completely erasing its earlier 2.9% intraday gain.


How large is this "tax avoidance business"?

The continuous rise in US stocks over the past few years has allowed wealthy investors to accumulate substantial taxable gains.  Wall Street subsequently saw the emergence of products called "tax-aware long-short strategies," specifically designed to help high-net-worth clients legally reduce their tax burden.

The operational logic is not complex: hold profitable stocks long-term to defer tax payments, while actively selling losing stocks to "reap the losses," using the losses to offset other gains, thereby reducing the current tax bill.

These strategies are currently available through various forms, including hedge funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts. According to a previous Bloomberg report, the total size of these strategies has exceeded $1 trillion.

AQR is a leader in this field. The company has been heavily promoting tax optimization products since at least 2024, with related strategy assets growing tenfold in two years, reaching approximately $57 billion. In 2025, AQR's total assets increased
