Eugene, posting on his own social media channel, stated that Bitcoin is currently fluctuating around $80,000, adding, “The market could start a big move in the next week. I hope it will be upward.” The experienced trader also argued that many altcoins appear ready to break out of their current trading ranges.

Eugene noted that the trading volume and open interest (OI) data in the market were also noteworthy. According to him, at current levels, a smaller amount of new purchases compared to previous periods might be sufficient to push cryptocurrency prices higher. This, he stated, indicates that investors may still be underpositioned in many assets.

According to the analyst, the key element the market needs is for Bitcoin to decisively and strongly break above the $80,000 level. Eugene said that following this breakout, major altcoins, primarily Ethereum, Solana, and HYPE, could take the lead and initiate a new uptrend. Agentic commerce will run on crypto rails, PayPal and Google reps tell Consensus MiamiMIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Senior figures from Google Cloud and PayPal told CoinDesk's Consensus Miami conference on Thursday that the next wave of internet commerce will run on crypto rails because AI agents structurally cannot use traditional financial accounts.

Richard Widmann, global head of Web3 strategy at Google Cloud, said the existing internet user experience does not extend to autonomous agents.

"An agent cannot get a bank account. It's not hard, it just is impossible," he said, citing technological and regulatory barriers. Crypto, by contrast, is "a fantastic machine readable interface for payments," Widmann said.

To address the gap, Google has launched the Agentic Payments Protocol (AP2), an open protocol that has been donated to the FIDO Foundation and has more than 120 partners including PayPal, Widmann said. He compared the move to the x402 internet-native payment standard given to the Linux Foundation.

"Open dialogues and open standards are really the foundation you need to build on," Widmann said.

May Zabaneh, senior vice president and general manager of crypto at PayPal, said the company is treating agents as the next channel after PayPal's evolution from offline to online to mobile commerce. PYUSD, the company's stablecoin, is "a very natural programmable layer for payments," she said, particularly as commerce trends toward globalization, AI-native experiences and tokenized assets.

Zabaneh cited a recent PayPal survey which found that 95% of merchants now see AI agent traffic on their sites, but only 20% have machine-readable catalogs. "Merchants need to be ready for this next era," she said. The shift, she added, mirrors the move from offline to online stores; merchants need to expose their products in agent-readable formats.

Some analysts believe the current market structure resembles a temporary relief rally rather than the start of a full breakout. Concerns over inflation, Federal Reserve policy, geopolitical uncertainty, and weaker risk appetite continue to create pressure across crypto markets.

At the same time, institutional demand and spot Bitcoin ETF inflows are helping support the broader long-term outlook. Bitcoin has already recovered significantly from its yearly lows, showing resilience even during periods of heavy volatility.

On the 4th of May, 14,600 BTC was sold in a single day. This represented the greatest single-day profit-taking since December 2025, according to XWIN Japan.

The Bitcoin short-term holder SOPR had climbed to 1.016. It has also been above 1 since mid-April, meaning short-term holders have been selling at a profit since then. This metric reinforces the profit-taking idea and the lack of market conviction, likely born from experience with previous bear cycles.

The bounce above $76k improved holder profitability and encouraged sustained selling. This selling has not yet turned into an aggressive distribution from larger long-term holders, leaving the market at a critical inflection point.

In South Korea, cryptocurrency investors are beginning to convert their assets into cash to purchase real estate, with this trend being most prevalent among investors in their 30s.

According to data released by South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on May 10, a total of 324 homebuyers declared using proceeds from cryptocurrency sales in their home finance plans between February 10 and March 31. Of these investors, 229 were aged 30-39, representing approximately 70.7% of the total.

It was also reported that the same age group ranked first in terms of cryptocurrency sales revenue used in home purchases. The total amount of crypto-derived funds used by investors in their 30s for real estate purchases reached approximately 10.31 billion won (approximately $7.4 million).

Data shows that earnings from the crypto market are beginning to flow into the real estate sector after South Korea started reporting virtual asset sales revenue as a separate category in its housing finance plans this year.

However, it was added that crypto-sourced funds currently account for only about 0.1% of total home purchase financing, and the overall scale remains limited for now.
