Bitcoin price slipped back below $80,000 after a brief push to $82,400, its highest level since late January forecast, leaving traders debating whether the rally has legs or is already running on fumes.

BTC last traded around $79,512, down from intraday highs, as on-chain data began flashing profit-taking signals that have historically preceded short-term pullbacks. The answer to what comes next depends heavily on which data set you trust.

CryptoQuant flagged that realized profits just hit their highest level since December, with short-term holders increasingly selling into strength. Traders are sitting on an 18% unrealized profit margin, the highest since June 2025, a threshold where distribution has typically accelerated in prior cycles.

AI predicts Nvidia stock’s next record high date

With American semiconductor giant Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) hitting a new record during Friday’s session, insights from an artificial intelligence model suggest the stock could be on track for another all-time high within weeks.

The prediction comes after Nvidia recorded its latest intraday high on May 8,, when shares climbed to about $217.80. However, the stock later eased slightly to close at $215, still up nearly 2% for the day.

To determine when Nvidia stock might reach another record, Finbold sought insight from OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which outlined several possible scenarios.

ChatGPT identified Nvidia’s upcoming earnings report as the most likely catalyst for another breakout, noting that the chipmaker has historically experienced sharp price swings following earnings releases.

The AI model projected that if Nvidia delivers another strong earnings beat and raises forward guidance, the stock could climb toward the $230 to $245 range shortly afterward.

The forecast also highlighted continued AI infrastructure spending from major technology companies, including Microsoft, Amazon, Meta Platforms, and Alphabet as a key factor supporting Nvidia’s bullish outlook.

According to ChatGPT, Nvidia’s technical structure remains favorable as long as the stock stays above breakout support near $205.

The model noted that momentum indicators are elevated but not yet at the extreme levels that historically preceded major tops, suggesting there may still be room for further upside before a larger correction emerges.

The AI-generated outlook also warned that volatility around Nvidia’s earnings release could increase because the company has become one of the market’s most crowded AI trades.

As a result, even strong earnings could trigger short-term profit-taking if investors believe expectations have become too aggressive.

BlackRock deepens tokenization push with new onchain fund offerings



BlackRock (BK), the world's largest asset manager, overseeing $14 trillion in assets, is deepening its push into tokenized finance with a pair of new filings tied to blockchain-based U.S. Treasury and money-market funds.

In a Friday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the asset management giant proposed launching the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle, a new fund that invests in cash, short-term U.S. Treasury securities, and overnight repurchase agreements backed by Treasuries.

The fund would issue "OnChain Shares" through a permissioned system connected to multiple public blockchains. Securitize Transfer Agent LLC will maintain the official ownership records for those tokenized shares. According to the filing, the transfer agent will use a permissioned framework tied to public blockchain networks, while maintaining offchain records linking wallet addresses to investor identities.

Bitcoin fell below $80,000 as crypto liquidations reached nearly $300 million. Traders reduced leverage across major assets. TON stood out as short positions faced heavy pressure.

Bitcoin dropped below $80,000 late Thursday after fresh US airstrikes in Iran rattled risk markets and pushed Brent crude briefly above $100. The move triggered heavy crypto futures liquidations, with nearly $300 million in leveraged bets wiped out over 24 hours. Long traders carried most of the losses as the market pulled back from recent gains.

The decline came as traders were already cautious. Strategy chairman Michael Saylor said the company could consider selling Bitcoin to cover dividend payments from STRC. That marked a shift from its earlier ‘never sell’ stance.

Meanwhile, Ether traded at $2,280 after losing 0.2% since midnight UTC and about 2% over 24 hours. Other altcoins also weakened, with Monero and Dash falling between 4% and 5%.

Bitcoin Drop Pressures Leveraged Traders

Bitcoin’s move below $80,000 did not erase its wider recovery from late March. The asset had climbed from around $65,000, keeping its broader rebound intact.

Still, traders continue to watch the $75,000 level closely. A break below that area would cancel the recent pattern of higher lows. It would also signal a return to the earlier trading range.

The latest futures data showed clear deleveraging after the overnight drop. Cumulative industry notional open interest fell more than 1.5% to $131.5 billion. At the same time, trading volume declined more than 12% to $191 billion.

This shift showed that traders reduced exposure after Bitcoin lost momentum. Many had entered the weekend positioned for further gains. Instead, the market weakness forced rapid exits.

Chatbots trained to sound warmer made between 10% and 30% more mistakes on topics including medical advice and conspiracy corrections. They were also about 40% more likely to agree with users' false beliefs, particularly when users expressed vulnerability. "When we train Al chatbots to prioritise warmth, they might make mistakes they otherwise wouldn't," lead author Lujain Ibrahim said in a statement. "Making a chatbot sound friendlier might seem like a cosmetic change, but getting warmth and accuracy right will take deliberate effort." Crypto activists attempting to compel the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to include Bitcoin in its reserves failed to gather the necessary signatures for a referendum, reports Reuters.

Under Swiss law, 100,000 signatures were required within 18 months to bring the initiative to a national vote. However, the activists managed to collect only about half of the required number with just weeks remaining before the deadline.

“We knew from the start that it was a long shot. For now, we will let the initiative lapse, but progress towards the goal has been made,” said campaign founder Yves Bennaim.

The organizers of the Bitcoin Initiative proposed that the central bank hold the first cryptocurrency in its reserves alongside gold, dollars, and euros. They argued this would help diversify risks associated with fiat currencies.

The SNB has repeatedly opposed the idea of holding cryptocurrencies in its reserves. The head of the regulator, Martin Schlegel, pointed to high volatility, insufficient market depth, and the complexity of using digital assets for monetary policy purposes.

Last year, the price of Bitcoin fell by approximately 6.4%, and it has lost another 7.5% since the beginning of this year. However, with daily transaction volumes in the “tens of billions of dollars,” the asset is not illiquid, noted Bennaim.

According to him, the Bitcoin Initiative was an attempt to encourage the national bank to explore a technology that is transforming global finance.

“Bitcoin is an alternative to the dollar or euro, and like Switzerland, it is internationally neutral,” stated the crypto activist.
