Bitcoin and major cryptocurrencies jumped about 5% after President Trump said U.S. attacks on Iran's infrastructure would be postponed following what he called "very good and productive" talks.

Gold pared earlier losses to trade about 1% lower, while the U.S. dollar weakened and global bond yields, including the 10-year Treasury, fell sharply.

Oil prices slumped, with WTI crude dropping 11% and Brent 8%, triggering more than $62 million in liquidations in tokenized Brent futures as crypto-linked stocks also advanced.

Bitcoin mining has long been seen as a high-reward game. But right now, the economics are shifting—and not in miners’ favor.
As of March 23, the average cost to mine 1 BTC has climbed above $82,000, while Bitcoin is trading near $69,000. That puts miners at roughly a 15% loss per block—a situation that’s becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.
This isn’t just a temporary imbalance. It’s the result of rising operational pressure, especially from increasing energy costs. With oil prices climbing, electricity—arguably the most critical input for mining—has become significantly more expensive, squeezing already thin margins.
Miners are now being forced into tough decisions:
Shutting down less efficient machines, scaling back operations, and in many cases, selling more BTC just to cover expenses.
But this creates a ripple effect.
Forced selling adds downward pressure on Bitcoin’s price, while a reduction in hash rate signals weakening network participation. Together, these factors can feed into a negative loop:
Miners lose money → sell BTC → price drops → mining becomes even less profitable.
It’s a cycle that could quietly weigh on the market if conditions don’t improve.

NYSE Removes Restrictions on Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH)! Here Are the New Features

While Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) continue in bearish mode, a new announcement has come from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Accordingly, the NYSE announced that it has removed the 25,000 contract maximum position limit applied to Bitcoin ETF options and Ethereum ETF options.

According to The Block, NYSE Arca and NYSE American have filed a rule change application with the SEC to remove the 25,000-contract position and exercise limits on spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF options.

The SEC eliminated the standard 30-day waiting period, as it took effect immediately upon filing.

At this point, with this move, Bitcoin ETF options will be subject to the same regulations as general commodity ETFs, making it possible to create positions consisting of 250,000 or more contracts.

The rule change covers options for 11 cryptocurrency ETFs, including BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), Grayscale’s Bitcoin and Ethereum funds, and Bitwise’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.

These ETFs can also now be traded as FLEX options, offering customized strike prices and expiration dates. Trading restrictions on FLEX options, which allow for non-standard strike prices and expiration dates, have also been removed. From now on, institutional investors can also use FLEX options, allowing them to freely determine strike prices and expiration dates.

From now on, position limits for these ETF options will be calculated according to the general rules of each exchange, based on trading volume and the number of shares outstanding. For large and highly liquid ETFs, this might allow positions of more than 250,000 contracts.

Mt. Gox moves Bitcoin after months of inactivity ahead of repayment deadline

Mt. Gox, the defunct crypto exchange that collapsed in 2014, moved around $500 worth of Bitcoin from wallets it still controls today, its first Bitcoin transfer in four months, according to data from Arkham Intelligence.

The transaction has renewed speculation about the pace of creditor repayments ahead of a court-imposed claims deadline.

Mt. Gox still holds 34,503 Bitcoin worth approximately $2.4 billion at current market prices. $BTC traded $68,550 at press time, up 1% in the last 24 hours, per TradingView.

The entity has seen unrealized gains exceeding $10 billion on its remaining holdings since the exchange closed over a decade ago.

The final repayment deadline is October 31, 2026, giving the trustee approximately seven months to complete the remaining distributions.

According to the exchange, most main repayments have already been issued to creditors who have completed all necessary steps, and the Rehabilitation Trustee plans to finish the remaining payouts as reasonably practicable with court approval.
