XRP ETFs Record May's First Weekly InflowThe crypto market has traded mainly on the positive side over the last week, and $XRP has just recorded the biggest weekly inflow of the month according to the latest data provided by SosoValue.

Despite the negative record seen last week, the $XRP ETFs have shown signs of recovery as the broader crypto market sees sentiment flip to extremely bullish, sparking notable demand from institutional investors.

$XRP registers $28.17 million in fresh capital
While the $XRP ETF market recovery has followed a notable increase in the price of $XRP in the last seven days, it appears that institutional investors have become more optimistic about the asset's future price potential.

Hence, they have doubled down on their investments in the $XRP-based investment product. As such, the $XRP funds have achieved a combined inflow of $28.17 million in the past week.

While this comes after a week of extremely low performance, this marks the first and highest weekly inflow recorded by the $XRP ETFs in May.

With this resurgence in institutional demand, $XRP has continued to show signs of a potential price breakout as it has traded consistently above the $1.40 zone over the period.

What's next for $XRP in May?
While the last month proved to be a strong breakout month for $XRP following the prolonged volatility seen in the previous months, the asset has retained the bullish momentum in May.

As such, market watchers have become highly optimistic for a bigger price move in May as $XRP has traded mainly on the upside so far this month.

With the asset currently hovering around $1.40 as of the time of writing, analysts have predicted that the asset could hit the $2 mark before the month runs out.

Steady Accumulation Continues

The latest purchase brings Coinbase’s total Bitcoin holdings to approximately 16,492 $BTC, up from 15,389 $BTC reported at the end of the previous quarter. This represents a roughly 7% increase in the company’s Bitcoin position over the three-month period. The exchange did not disclose the average purchase price or the total amount spent on the acquisitions.

Coinbase, one of the largest publicly traded cryptocurrency exchanges, has maintained a policy of holding digital assets on its balance sheet as part of its long-term strategy. The company first disclosed its Bitcoin holdings in its 2021 direct listing prospectus and has periodically added to its position.

Context and Implications

The disclosure comes amid a period of institutional Bitcoin adoption, with several publicly traded companies adding the asset to their treasuries. Coinbase’s holdings, while substantial, remain smaller than those of MicroStrategy, which held over 214,000 $BTC as of early May 2025.

Coinbase’s decision to increase its Bitcoin holdings signals continued confidence in the asset class despite ongoing regulatory uncertainty in the United States. The company has been at the center of regulatory discussions, including its legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The inclusion caps one of the more remarkable growth stories in the semiconductor-adjacent space. LITE shares have surged between 145% and 150% year-to-date in 2026, building on a 339% gain in 2025. The company’s market capitalization now sits at roughly $70 billion, dwarfing CoStar Group’s $13 billion valuation and making the swap look almost inevitable.

The company specializes in photonic and optical technologies, the components that help data travel at the speed modern AI workloads demand. As hyperscale cloud providers have raced to build out the high-bandwidth networks needed to train and deploy large language models, Lumentum has found itself sitting on exactly the right product portfolio at exactly the right time.

Nasdaq announced the index change on May 8, 2026, and LITE shares ticked up 1.2% intraday on the news.

This isn’t Lumentum’s first major index milestone in recent months. The company was added to the S&P 500 on March 23, 2026, a move that itself reflected just how quickly the company’s valuation and trading profile had expanded.

The Nasdaq-100 is a market-cap-weighted index, meaning larger companies carry more influence on its performance. At $70 billion, Lumentum won’t be one of the heaviest weights in the index, where Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia command multi-trillion-dollar valuations.

CoStar Group, the commercial real estate data firm being removed, tells the other side of that story. At $13 billion in market cap, it no longer ranks among the 100 largest non-financial Nasdaq names.

How Much Ripple’s Ex-CTO’s XRP Holding Could Have Been Worth
A prominent crypto blockchain researcher, known as BankXRP, has released a new report on the value of the XRP stash once held by Schwartz. The findings detail how the value of the holdings could have grown over time before the former Ripple CTO sold his bags.  

The report reveals that Schwartz once held 26 million XRP tokens, which saw massive swings as the price changed each year. In 2012, XRP’s value sat at $0.005, making his holdings worth $130,000 before the cryptocurrency hit $2.30 in 2017 during the bull market. At that time, the former Ripple executive’s stash could have been valued at approximately $59.8 million. 

Following this, BankXRP said that Schwartz’s portfolio value would have plummeted when the XRP price fell to $0.19 in 2019, and would have risen again as the cryptocurrency’s value climbed back toward $1.00 in recent cycles. By 2024, after the massive rally, XRP’s average price sat at $2.08. This means the estimated value of Schwartz’s holdings would have been over $54 million.

For 2025 and 2026, the latest figures show that XRP traded at average prices of $1.84 and $1.40, respectively. These market rates would have kept the value of the former CTO’s total holdings between $36.4 million and $47.8 million during the last two years.
