Travelex Bank’s Ripple-Powered Shift Signals a New Era for Global Payments

Global payments are quietly but decisively evolving, and new moves involving Travelex Bank and Ripple are accelerating that shift even further.

Market analyst ChartNerd notes that Travelex Bank, one of the world’s largest retail foreign exchange specialists, is now using Ripple Payments to strengthen its cross-border payments system.

The aim is simply to cut transaction costs, enable near-instant settlement, and simplify global payments with round-the-clock access. In a sector long defined by delays and multiple intermediaries, this shift reflects a clear move toward real-time financial infrastructure.

What makes this even more significant is Travelex Bank’s regulatory position: it recently became the first domestic exchange bank approved by Brazil’s Central Bank.

This milestone strengthens its footing in one of Latin America’s most tightly regulated financial systems and highlights a growing shift, traditional banks are no longer treating blockchain as experimental, but increasingly embedding it into core operations.

At the heart of this shift is Ripple’s payment technology, which is increasingly bridging the gap between traditional banking systems and modern settlement networks.

Unlike legacy systems that depend on multiple intermediaries and slow batch processing, Ripple’s infrastructure, built on the XRP Ledger, supports near-instant cross-border settlement.

In practice, this means faster international transfers, lower operational costs, and more efficient liquidity management for financial institutions.

Project Eleven’s 1 BTC Q-Day Prize was meant to sharpen the debate over quantum risk to Bitcoin and other ECC-secured crypto assets. Instead, a sharp critique from Google quantum researcher Craig Gidney has turned the competition itself into the story.

In an April 25 blog post titled “The predictable failure of the QDay Prize,” Gidney, a research scientist on Google’s quantum computing team, argued that the winning submission did not meaningfully demonstrate progress toward a cryptographically relevant quantum attack. His central claim was blunt: the contest was structured around a benchmark that current quantum computers are poorly suited to measure.

Bitcoin’s Quantum Threat Debate Explodes
Project Eleven had announced the previous day that it awarded the Q-Day Prize to Giancarlo Lelli for breaking a 15-bit elliptic curve key on publicly accessible quantum hardware. The group described the result as the “largest quantum attack on elliptic curve cryptography to date” and said it represented a 512x jump from a prior 6-bit public demonstration.

For crypto markets, the framing mattered. Project Eleven explicitly linked the result to the long-term security assumptions behind Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more than $2.5 trillion in ECC-secured digital assets.

But Gidney argued that the test may have proved far less than advertised. Gidney said he was invited last year to participate in the Q-Day Prize but declined because he viewed the premise as flawed. His first objection was that Shor’s algorithm requires quantum error correction for cryptographically meaningful instances.

How Does Bitcoin (BTC) React to Federal Reserve Chair Changes? Analyst Explains, Then Warns!

With Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s term nearing its end, his successor is expected to be Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s nominee.

While Warsh is expected to receive confirmation from the US Senate, a social media influencer claimed that Bitcoin always falls during changes in the Federal Reserve Chair.

Ted Pillows, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency world, argued in a post on his X account that Bitcoin ($BTC) has historically always fallen during periods of leadership change at the Federal Reserve.

Pillows analyzed the changes in Bitcoin since Janet Yellen became chair.

Accordingly, it was noted that $BTC fell by 84% in the months following Janet Yellen’s appointment as FED Chair in January 2014.

Similarly, Bitcoin fell by 73% when Jerome Powell took office in February 2018, and by 61% when Powell was reappointed for a second term in May 2022.

Pillows stated that Bitcoin is negatively affected by changes in FED Chairpersons, and added that he was curious to see what would happen to the $BTC price with Kevin Warsh becoming the chair.

“1) January 2014: Janet Yellen became the Chair of the FED – $BTC lost 84% of its value.

2) February 2018: Powell became the FED Chairman. – $BTC lost 73% of its value.

3) May 2022: Powell begins his second term. – $BTC loses 61% of its value.

Now, Kevin Warsh is expected to become the FED chairman next month.

Will history repeat itself, or will this time be different?

As is known, current Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s term will end on May 15. US President Donald Trump nominated Warsh as the next Fed Chairman, but the nomination has not yet been confirmed by the Senate.

Gold advocate and longtime Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff has taken direct aim at Michael Saylor’s most famous prediction, and the math he is using is simple enough to make Bitcoin bulls uncomfortable.
In 2025, Saylor predicted Bitcoin would hit $1 million per coin if Strategy accumulated 5% of the total supply. Strategy currently owns 3.9%, having just added another 3,273 Bitcoin last week at an average price of $77,906 per coin. The company now holds 818,334 BTC acquired for approximately $61.8 billion in total.
If buying the last 231,666 Bitcoin had a certain impact on price, buying the next 231,666 to reach the 5% threshold should have a comparable effect. Based on that logic, Schiff concludes Bitcoin will be trading below $60,000 by the time Strategy reaches its target, not $1 million.

“Bitcoin will be below $60,000 when MSTR finally hits 5%,” Schiff wrote on X, where the post drew more than 56,000 views within hours.
