The XRP price slipped almost 1% during the past 24 hours after failing to extend above a key resistance region. Uniswap price moved in the opposite direction and remains one of the strongest performers in the market today with gains above 5%. SEI price also stayed positive, adding close to 2% as buyers defended the latest breakout move.

Bitcoin Profit-Taking May Intensify Amid Crypto Bear Market Rebound : Analysis
Bitcoin has delivered notable gains in recent weeks, surging approximately 37% from early April levels and reaching a three-month peak of over $80,000 and briefly going above the $82,000 mark. However, on-chain analytics provider CryptoQuant maintains that this advance qualifies as a temporary rebound within a broader bear market, not the beginning of a new bullish phase. The firm’s assessment warns that investor selling to secure gains is gaining momentum and could pick up additional steam if prices hold steady or edge modestly higher.

Analysts at CryptoQuant highlight several on-chain indicators reflecting real participant behavior. Short-term holders have moved firmly into profitable territory.

Their Spent Output Profit Ratio (STH-SOPR) has climbed to 1.016 and stayed consistently above the neutral 1.0 mark since mid-April.

This pattern shows that investors who entered during the prior decline are now regularly exiting positions with returns when opportunities arise.

On May 4, daily realized profits jumped to 14,600 BTC—the largest single-day total since December 10, 2025. Over the past 30 days, net realized profits across the market have flipped positive for the first time in over four months, totaling around 20,000 BTC.

Unrealized profit margins also stand out. Market participants currently hold average paper gains near 18%, the highest level recorded since June 2025.

Historical patterns suggest that such elevated unrealized returns often encourage greater distribution activity as holders look to convert potential profits into actual ones before sentiment shifts.

CryptoQuant frames the current bitcoin price action as a classic bear-market rally.

At the same time, institutional interest remains strong. Large financial firms and ETF-related demand are still active, which is helping Bitcoin avoid deeper declines even during uncertain conditions. Some analysts also believe Bitcoin may be forming the early stage of a new bullish cycle if it continues holding above key support levels.
However, short-term trading remains choppy because liquidity is uneven and investors are still reacting to global economic signals.

Has Donald Trump been a net positive for Bitcoin or created an unbreakable partisan divide?

Has Donald Trump been net positive for Bitcoin? It is an uncomfortable question for many Bitcoin supporters, including me.

My political criticisms of Trump are substantial and longstanding. They extend well beyond policy disagreements into questions about rhetoric, institutional conduct, and the broader political culture surrounding his presidency.

None of that disappears because Bitcoin performed well during parts of his administration or because parts of the industry now view him as an ally. Still, the question matters because Bitcoin increasingly sits inside state policy, capital markets, and geopolitical competition.

Once that happened, separating political preference from analytical judgment became harder. The reason the question deserves a serious answer is simple: no modern U.S. president has moved Bitcoin closer to formal government recognition than Trump.

That does not automatically make him “good for Bitcoin” in a complete sense. Price appreciation alone is insufficient. Campaign rhetoric is insufficient. Political branding is insufficient.

The real test is whether Bitcoin has become more institutionally durable, more legally defensible, and more difficult for future governments to marginalize.

On that narrower question, the evidence is stronger than many critics like me want to admit.
