Evernorth, an $XRP treasury company building its strategy around long-term participation in the $XRP ecosystem, has asserted that $XRP’s most important institutional story is not price action, exchange-traded fund (ETF) demand, or tokenization headlines. In a blog post by Chief Business Officer Sagar Shah on May 8, the firm said the $XRP Ledger’s deeper shift is happening in the infrastructure that regulated capital needs before it can operate on public blockchain rails.

Recent XRPL upgrades support that view. Multi-Purpose Tokens brought compliance controls into tokenized assets, including KYC requirements, transfer limits, allowlists, freeze controls, and clawback functions. Permissioned Domains added restricted environments for approved wallets. Token Escrow expanded settlement tools, while Permissioned DEX created controlled trading venues for approved counterparties. At Consensus 2026 in Miami, Ripple SVP Jack McDonald delivered one of the clearest explanations yet of how $XRP and $RLUSD work together. His message was unmistakable: $RLUSD isn’t replacing $XRP, it relies on $XRP to function on the $XRP Ledger.

Explaining how $RLUSD functions on the $XRP Ledger, McDonald emphasized that $XRP remains essential to the network’s infrastructure. As the ledger’s native gas token, $XRP powers every $RLUSD transaction processed on XRPL behind the scenes.

While reinforcing $XRP’s central role in facilitating activity across the network, he said:

“Everything that we’re doing on the $XRP Ledger with $RLUSD requires us to use $XRP.”

McDonald described $XRP as the “grease in the wheel” powering $RLUSD activity on the $XRP Ledger, highlighting its critical role in enabling fast and efficient transaction flow across the network. His remarks push back against speculation that $RLUSD could diminish $XRP’s importance.

Instead, Ripple appears to be strengthening a dual-asset ecosystem where $RLUSD delivers price stability while $XRP continues to power liquidity, transaction fees, and core network functionality.

$DEEP price pushing to break the range resistance
The price action charts confirmed the increase in speculative trading as $DEEP attempted to break past the consolidation. The altcoin had been moving sideways for the past 100 days.

The Choppiness Index reading sharply dropped to 32, suggesting the trend was strong. However, capital inflow remained in the negative territory as per Chaikin Money Flow (CMF).

If that reversal occurred, the next resistances that could curtail the uptrend were at $0.07 and $0.08. Sellers at these levels may react.
