Nvidia's efforts to expand Al chip sales in China remain stalled even after the U.S. approved several Chinese technology giants to purchase the company's H200 processors. Although around 10 Chinese firms, including Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, and JD.com, reportedly received approval to buy Nvidia's second-most powerful artificial intelligence chip, no shipments have been completed so far. The delay highlights the growing tension in the U.S.-China technology rivalry, which continues to disrupt global semiconductor trade. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently joined President Donald Trump's trip to Beijing ahead of talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, raising expectations that diplomatic discussions could help revive the blocked transactions.Before tighter U.S. export controls were introduced, Nvidia controlled nearly 95% of China's advanced Al chip market. China previously contributed about 13% of Nvidia's revenue, while Huang estimated the country's Al market could reach $50 billion this year. However, stricter regulations and political pressure from both governments have complicated the company's business operations in the region. The U.S. Commerce Department reportedly approved distributors such as Lenovo and Foxconn to facilitate H200 sales in China. Under licensing rules, approved buyers can purchase up to 75,000 chips each. Despite these permissions, Beijing has reportedly become cautious about allowing large-scale imports due to concerns that reliance on foreign technology could weaken China's domestic semiconductor
industry. China is increasingly pushing local firms to adopt homegrown Al chips, especially products developed by Huawei.
This strategy reflects Beijing's broader goal of reducing dependence on U.S. technology amid escalating geopolitical competition.

Crypto projects with more than $3 billion in total value locked have migrated their cross-chain infrastructure to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) following a $292 million exploit at KelpDAO, which heightened scrutiny of bridge security across decentralized finance.

Chainlink confirmed the migration wave, saying four protocols, including KelpDAO, Solv Protocol, Re, and Tydro, had begun decommissioning legacy oracles and bridge systems in favor of CCIP.

The shift has also fed into LINK’s market performance. CryptoSlate data shows the token rose 15% to $10.52, its highest level since January, as traders responded to the acceleration in CCIP adoption.

Onramp Raises $12.5M Series A to Scale Multi-Institution Bitcoin Custody Platform

Onramp raised $12.5M in Series A at a $135M valuation to expand its institutional bitcoin custody platform.

Onramp has raised $12.5 million in a Series A round led by Early Riders, valuing the bitcoin financial services firm at $135 million as it pushes to scale a custody model designed to meet institutional standards.

The Austin-based company told Bitcoin Magazine it now holds more than $1 billion in assets under custody and has recorded zero security incidents since its founding in 2023. The new capital will support expansion of Onramp Finance, its recently launched platform that combines bitcoin custody, brokerage, and cash management, while funding new partnerships across banks, registered investment advisors, and fintech firms.

At the center of the strategy is Onramp’s Multi-Institution Custody (MIC) model, which distributes key control across several regulated custodians rather than relying on a single entity or placing full responsibility on clients. The system is built with partners including BitGo, Coincover, and Tetra Trust, allowing for shared control structures that can span jurisdictions.

The approach targets a long-standing tradeoff in digital asset custody. Investors have often had to choose between centralized platforms with counterparty risk and self-custody setups that require technical expertise and operational oversight. Onramp positions MIC as a middle path that removes single points of failure while keeping assets verifiable on-chain.

Institutional traction has begun to follow. UK pension fund Cartwright selected Onramp as custodian for its bitcoin allocation, while the Bitcoin Policy Institute has endorsed multi-party custody frameworks for potential state-level bitcoin reserves.
