Morgan Stanley’s $116M Bitcoin ETF debut is tiny next to $1.9T, and that’s why Wall Street will notice

MSBT’s early inflows are negligible next to Morgan Stanley’s $1.9 trillion platform, but they offer something more valuable: proof that a bank-branded Bitcoin product can attract demand fast.
Morgan Stanley launched its spot Bitcoin ETF on Apr. 8 on NYSE Arca, calling MSBT the first cryptocurrency ETP from a US bank-affiliated asset manager and pricing its sponsor fee at 0.14%, the lowest Bitcoin ETP sponsor fee.

By Apr. 16, Farside Investors' data showed cumulative net inflows of $116 million across seven trading sessions.

Against Morgan Stanley Investment Management's $1.9 trillion in assets under management as of Dec. 31, 2025, that figure represents roughly 0.006% of the platform. At the 0.14% fee rate, it would generate only about $162,400 in annual gross revenue if assets were held at that level.

What makes the MSBT launch harder to ignore is the competitive arithmetic.

At roughly $16.6 million of net inflows per session, MSBT has already surpassed BTCW, which Farside shows at $86 million in cumulative inflows.

For a late entrant launching into a choppy Bitcoin market, clearing an existing competitor's total in less than two weeks establishes that brand, price, and distribution can still generate demand in a field already dominated by BlackRock's IBIT at $64.3 billion and Fidelity's FBTC at $10.8 billion.

XRP’s price has declined to $1.43 over the past 24h, from $1.50, amid a risk-off shift in crypto markets following renewed Iran-U.S. geopolitical tensions.

Geopolitical risk-off sentiment after Iran reversed its stance on the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a broad crypto selloff. Prices fell after Iran announced that the Strait of Hormuz was again under strict military control, reversing earlier optimism about a ceasefire.

This renewed geopolitical tension caused a risk-off move across crypto, with XRP showing a higher beta (down 4.12%) than Bitcoin (down 2.33%).

This sector-wide weakness contributed to XRP’s underperformance.  In risk-off environments, altcoins like XRP often see outsized declines as traders reduce exposure to higher-beta assets.

The immediate trigger is the scheduled 1 billion XRP escrow unlock on May 1. If buying interest absorbs this potential supply and price holds above the strong $1.30 support, a rebound toward the $1.50 resistance is likely.

However, a break below $1.30 could trigger accelerated selling toward the next support near $1.15.  The market is at a technical inflexion point, balancing positive ETF inflows against macro uncertainty and supply dynamics.

Investors are awaiting whether the 24-hour trading volume, which fell 38.48%, recovers on any rebound attempt to confirm genuine buying interest.

The combination of macro headwinds and outflows from the altcoin sector has exerted clear selling pressure. The sustainability of the recent rally now depends on holding key support levels.

Right now, XRP doesn’t really look neutral—it’s still in a clear downtrend. The price is trading below the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages, and all of them are pointing downward. That kind of structure usually signals that the market hasn’t truly found a bottom yet.
Volume tells a similar story. There was a spike during the selloff, but after that, activity faded. That’s not what you typically see during accumulation—it looks more like a slow, controlled downtrend rather than strong buying interest stepping in.
The $1.30 level is currently doing most of the work. Buyers are defending it, but the strength behind those defenses is still questionable. It’s more about preventing further downside than pushing the price higher.
If XRP manages to reclaim $1.50 and hold above it, that would be the first real sign that momentum is shifting. Until that happens, any upward moves are more likely just relief bounces inside a broader downtrend.
On the downside, if $1.30 breaks, the structure weakens quickly. There isn’t much strong support below that zone, which could open the door to a faster drop.
On-chain data adds more weight to this picture. A large portion of holders are currently underwater, and metrics like MVRV are sitting at levels typically seen during periods of market stress. That usually reflects weak momentum rather than an imminent reversal.
Overall, XRP is already down roughly 30% over the past year, so this isn’t just a short correction—it’s a longer downtrend that still hasn’t shown a convincing reversal signal.
In short, the market is tightening, but still leaning bearish. Until the structure changes, continuation of the trend remains more likely than a sudden recovery.

Stablecoins can help businesses turn costs into revenue, Paxos Labs cofounder says

Stablecoins, the $300 billion class of digital dollars, may have started as a faster way to move money across the globe, but companies are now asking a different question: what can they actually do with them?

That shift is driving a new phase of adoption, according to Chunda McCain, co-founder of Paxos Labs, who says the industry is moving beyond basic infrastructure toward real business use cases.

"The first step was getting a stablecoin," McCain said in an interview with CoinDesk. "The next question is: what now?"

Last week, Paxos Labs underscored that direction by raising $12 million in a strategic funding round led by Blockchain Capital, with participation from Robot Ventures, Maelstrom and Uniswap. The lab unit was incubated under Paxos, the New York-based digital asset firm behind popular stablecoins such as PayPal's $PYUSD ($PYUSD) and the Global Dollar (USDG). Paxos itself builds stablecoins and the immediate underlying infrastructure, while Paxos Labs intends to build tooling for further use of those stablecoins.

With the fresh funds, Paxos Labs is building what it calls a "financial utility stack" that lets companies turn digital assets into products through a single integration.

Its newly launched Amplify Suite bundles three core tools: Earn, which offers yield on digital assets; Borrow, which enables lending against them; and Mint, which supports branded stablecoin issuance. The idea behind that is to let firms integrate tokens into a business, then layer on capabilities over time.
