Gold prices remained largely stable during Asian trading on Tuesday as investors closely tracked developments surrounding the fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire and awaited a high-profile meeting between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.Spot gold slipped 0.1% to $4,729.18 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures climbed 0.2% to $4,738.00 per ounce.
The precious metal had already gained 0.4% in the previous trading session, supported by ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and safe-haven demand. Market sentiment stayed cautious after Trump criticized Iran's response to a U.S.-supported peace proposal, calling it a "piece of garbage" and warning that the ceasefire was at risk of collapse. Trump described the truce as being on "massive life support," increasing concerns over renewed tensions in the Middle East.Iranian officials responded by stating that the country's armed forces were fully prepared to react to any aggressive action. Tehran also reiterated demands for sanctions relief, restoration of oil exports, and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.Oil prices stayed elevated amid fears of potential supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. Rising crude prices limited gains in gold, as investors worried that higher energy costs could increase inflation and force the Federal Reserve to maintain higher interest rates for a longer period. CLARITY Act’s final draft has been released ahead of May 14 markup – What’s in it?

The Senate Banking Committee text limits passive stablecoin yield, preserves DeFi protections and leaves a Democratic ethics demand unresolved.
On May 12, the Senate Banking Committee released updated text of the CLARITY Act ahead of a scheduled May 14 markup.

The bill would establish new rules for digital asset intermediaries, define how certain network tokens are treated, expand the role of federal market regulators, and create a path for banks to offer crypto-related services.

It also preserves protections sought by decentralized finance developers and adds restrictions to prevent crypto platforms from offering deposit-like yield on payment stablecoin balances.

The release moves the Senate effort from private negotiation into a public committee process. If approved by the panel, the bill would still require further negotiations before reaching the Senate floor.

However, its path remains uncertain because Democratic concerns over ethics restrictions for federal officials were not resolved in the text released this week.

Still, several US lawmakers believe that the legislation could reach President Donald Trump's desk before July 4. Senator Thom Tillis said:

“After months of painstaking negotiations with stakeholders, the updated CLARITY Act language is a bipartisan compromise that will provide regulatory certainty needed to foster innovation in the United States.

I was proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to develop this improved, consensus-based product, and I look forward to Congress quickly passing this legislation and sending it to President Trump’s desk soon.”

Bitcoin has done something it had not managed since late January: close a week above $80,000. Bitcoin bulls now have a stronger argument after BTC pushed through the $78,000 to $80,000 bearish order block, but the next phase is not yet easy to predict.

What comes next, however, depends entirely on whether Bitcoin bulls can defend the price ground the cryptocurrency has just claimed and two important price levels.

The $78,000 Floor That Must Hold
TradingView data shows that Bitcoin registered a weekly close of $82,210 against Tether on Sunday, May 10, confirming that the break above $80,000 was not just an intraday reclaim of the psychological level.

However, the zone between $78,000 and $80,000 was not simply a range that Bitcoin traded through. Technical analysis of the daily candlestick price chart shows that it was a bearish order block, a supply area where sellers had previously overwhelmed buyers repeatedly.

This makes $78,000 the level bulls may need to defend if the breakout is going to stay valid. A clean hold above this area would suggest that the former bearish order block has flipped into support, giving BTC a stronger base for another attempt at higher levels.

The next level is the current lower-high area around $82,000. CryptoPatel’s chart shows Bitcoin trading around this zone after reclaiming the $78,000 to $80,000 order block, and this is where the market could either confirm continuation or form another short-term rejection.

A clean break above $82,000 would open the door for Bitcoin to move higher. In that case, the next likely target becomes the $90,000 bearish order block.
