Florida Attorney General Investigates Robinhood Crypto Over 'Lowest Cost' Marketing Claims
Florida Attorney General Subpoenas Robinhood Over Crypto Marketing Claims and Deceptive Pricing
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has launched an investigation into Robinhood Crypto, alleging that the company is misleading consumers by claiming that it offers the "lowest average cost" for digital asset trades. The investigation focuses on the platform's marketing messaging and business model, particularly its payment for order flow (PFOF), which the regulator believes may contradict the company's advertised pricing advantages.
The investigation was launched after Robinhood received a formal subpoena requesting detailed internal documents on its marketing, pricing structure, and user trading data in Florida through 2024. Uthmeier said his office believes Robinhood's cost-related claims may violate the state's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
