The discussion around $XRP and ISO20022 has been running for years. Some claim $XRP is “ISO20022 compliant,” while others completely reject that idea. The reality sits somewhere in between.

ISO20022 is a messaging standard used by banks, while $XRP operates in liquidity and settlement. Mixing these two roles has led to constant back-and-forth between analysts, developers, and the wider crypto community.

Bill Morgan Breaks It Down

Legal expert Bill Morgan stepped in to clear things up, pushing back on critics like ScamDetective5.

Instead of arguing that $XRP is directly compliant, Morgan explained the actual structure. $XRP works through Ripple’s Interledger Protocol (ILP), which acts as a bridge for value transfer.

What he meant is quite simple:

ISO20022 → handles messaging

ILP → handles liquidity and settlement

“Ripple has also played a big part in the evolution of this messaging layer for traditional finance. Ripple joined the ISO20022 Standards Board in 2020 and influenced the direction it took for cross-border uses and extending the standard to DLTs.” He stated

In short, Ripple has played a role in shaping ISO20022 standards and built its payment systems to align with them. That creates indirect compatibility, even if $XRP itself isn’t “compliant” in the traditional sense.

Analysts Push Back Hard

The response was quick. ScamDetective5 challenged Morgan, asking how an $XRP payment could actually be executed through ISO20022 and whether the same logic would apply to Bitcoin, since it can also interact with ILP.

Bitcoin developers are trying to build quantum defenses. Your coins could pay the price.

Bitcoin was built on a promise that no one can touch your coins without your private key. No government, no bank, nobody.

That promise is now, for the first time in Bitcoin's 16-year history, being challenged from the developer community itself, as a part of measures to build defenses against future quantum computers that could compromise Bitcoin's blockchain and steal your coins.

The proposal

Jameson Loop, one of the outspoken bitcoin contributors, and other cryptographers, have ﻿proposed a move that could force bitcoin holders to migrate their coins to new quantum-resistant addresses or face having their coins frozen permanently by the network itself. In that scenario, holders would technically still “own” the coins, but lose the ability to move them.

It is called Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP)-361 and was updated in Bitcoin's official proposal repository Tuesday with the title "Post Quantum Migration and Legacy Signature Sunset."

This comes as a recently released Google report warned that a sufficiently powerful quantum machine could require significantly less firepower to compromise the Bitcoin blockchain than initially estimated. This prompted some observers to cite 2029 as the quantum deadline for bitcoin.

To understand the need to freeze coins, you need to know what it is protecting against.

Every Bitcoin wallet is secured by a form of cryptography called ECDSA, or Elliptic Curve Digital Signature algorithm. Think of it as a lock on your wallet. When you set up a wallet, two keys are generated: Private key, which is a unique password used to prove that you own the coins you are spending. Bitcoin ‘Risk Index’ Hits Zero, Has Selling Pressure Finally Exhausted?



The Bitcoin Risk Index just hit zero, “a full low-risk regime,” reported Swissblock on Tuesday. The metric is a proprietary indicator that gauges the overall risk level in the Bitcoin market. It essentially measures the relative balance between selling and buying pressure, and how “risky” it is to hold or buy $BTC.

Swissblock noted that it signals reduced selling pressure, a completion of the bottoming phase (but not yet expansion), and “stabilization inside the low-risk regime.”

“Historically, these zones mark where selling pressure is fully exhausted and bullish structure can begin to rebuild.”

Bitcoin at Bear Market Resistance

CryptoQuant analyst ‘Darkfost’ observed that Bitcoin’s Coin Days Destroyed (CDD) metric has “collapsed,” which signals reduced long-term holder activity.

“After a prolonged period during which LTHs were significantly more active on Bitcoin, their behavior now appears to be shifting,” they said.

While this may sound ominous, it could signal units being moved into quantum-secure custody and is also a sign of reduced selling pressure.

“When CDD declines to this extent, it still indicates that selling pressure is decreasing.”

Meanwhile, CryptoQuant research head Julio Moreno noted that the price of Bitcoin is approaching a major bear market resistance – the traders’ on-chain Realized Price, currently at $76,800.

Alphractal reported something similar, stating that Bitcoin is approaching key on-chain cost resistance levels, including the True Market Mean Price and the short-term holder Realized Price.

While these factors remain bullish for XRP, too many longs could oversaturate the market, leading to a consolidation.

Bier concludes by noting that Cashtags is only the beginning and that X aims to be the best destination for both the crypto and TradFi communities.

Cypherpunk Jameson Lopp and five co-authors from the Bitcoin quantum security space have proposed freezing quantum-vulnerable coins on the Bitcoin network, including Satoshi’s $74 billion stash, to prevent them from being stolen once quantum computers become available.

The move is the second part of a three-stage proposal under BIP-361 called the “Post Quantum Migration and Legacy Signature Sunset,” which was posted as a draft to GitHub on Tuesday.

It addresses a major risk to Bitcoin — the potential use of quantum computers to steal roughly 1.7 million $BTC locked in early P2PK addresses, including Satoshi’s stash, which are not quantum-proof.

In the wrong hands, these coins could significantly undermine the value of the network.

Three phases to quantum security

BIP-361 builds on BIP-360, released in February, which proposed a soft fork for a new output type called pay-to-Merkle-root (P2MR). It works similarly to Bitcoin’s existing Taproot (P2TR) addresses but with the quantum-vulnerable key path removed.

While BIP-360 protects new coins going forward, it does not address the roughly 34% of the supply that remains vulnerable unless it is transferred to new addresses.

BIP-361 proposes that three years after activation, phase A of the proposal would prevent any new $BTC from being sent to old-style addresses, with all users on quantum-resistant address types.

The second phase (B) would invalidate old-style signatures and any Bitcoin still sitting in vulnerable addresses becomes effectively frozen five years after activation.

Phase C provides a potential rescue mechanism using zero-knowledge proofs, allowing people who missed the deadline but still have their seed phrase to recover frozen funds.
