Solv ditches LayerZero for Chainlink CCIP to secure $700+ million in wrapped Bitcoin assetsSolv Protocol, which focuses on bringing Bitcoin into decentralized finance, is migrating its entire cross-chain infrastructure from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP following a comprehensive review of interoperability security standards, the team said in a May 7 announcement.

The upgrade aims to secure more than $700 million in wrapped Bitcoin assets tied to SolvBTC and xSolvBTC, according to Solv. The move means that Chainlink CCIP will become the protocol’s default cross-chain communication layer on all supported networks.

Built by Solv Protocol, SolvBTC gives Bitcoin holders access to DeFi opportunities without giving up direct $BTC exposure. The protocol also supports cross-chain interoperability and institutional-style Bitcoin yield products through its BTCFi infrastructure.

Solv said repeated bridge-related hacks across the crypto industry reinforced the need for stronger security assurances and lower systemic risk, leading the team to standardize on Chainlink’s infrastructure.

The decision to adopt Chainlink CCIP was driven by its strong security guarantees, decentralized architecture, and growing recognition as one of the most reliable interoperability solutions in the blockchain industry, as noted by the team.

“Security is the foundation of everything we build at Solv, and our migration to Chainlink CCIP reinforces that commitment at the highest level,” Will Wang, Chief Technology Officer at Solv, explained.

“By fully securing SolvBTC and xSolvBTC cross-chain transfers with CCIP, we are providing users the highest assurance that proven, defense-in-depth infrastructure secures all cross-chain transfers. This strategic migration positions Solv to scale with the reliability and institutional-grade security assurance the market demands,” Wang added.

Core Scientific announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2026. The company reported selling a total of 2,385 Bitcoin during the period, generating approximately $208.3 million in revenue. However, the company also reported a net loss of $347.2 million for the same period.

A significant portion of the losses consisted of $266.5 million in impairment expenses for mining equipment and related assets. The company stated that these steps were taken to finance the transformation process towards AI data center operations.

Core Scientific also announced that it has completed the issuance of $3.3 billion in secured bonds with an interest rate of 7.75 percent to support data center investments and restructure approximately $1 billion in term loans.

Artificial intelligence infrastructure has been at the heart of the company’s recent growth strategy. In particular, the long-term agreement with CoreWeave, which increases capacity to 590 megawatts, is expected to generate approximately $10.2 billion in revenue over the next 12 years.

In the first quarter, revenue from high-density AI hosting services reached $77.5 million, while revenue from traditional Bitcoin mining operations remained at $30.1 million. This allowed the company’s AI data center business to surpass its mining operations in terms of revenue.

Core Scientific reportedly currently operates 10 data centers with a total power capacity of approximately 1.9 gigawatts. The company’s total liquidity, including cash and Bitcoin, was approximately $1.04 billion as of the end of the quarter.

Some Revolut users saw bitcoin briefly display far below market prices on Friday, with app charts showing a sudden plunge before snapping back near prevailing levels, in what appeared to be either a pricing display issue or a liquidity-related dislocation.

Revolut's official bitcoin page shows BTC briefly marked around £29,414 on Revolut’s one-day chart before returning near £58,600. Other social media posts claimed the app showed even lower prints, including near-zero prices as low as 2-cents, though CoinDesk could not independently verify those levels or confirm whether any trades were actually executed there.


The issue seemed isolated as no exchange on lists tracked by CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap showed any bitcoin price anomaly. It trades just over $79,000 as of Asian afternoon hours Friday.

Revolut had not responded to a CoinDesk request for comment by publication time.

Some users on X claimed buy orders executed during the disruption, but those reports remain unconfirmed. If trades were filled, Revolut would likely have to determine whether the prints reflected legitimate liquidity, stale quotes, a routing issue or a platform-side pricing error.

Flash moves in crypto apps can happen for several reasons. A display glitch can show an incorrect price without actual market execution. Thin liquidity on a specific venue or internal pricing rail can also produce sharp wicks if an order sweeps through a shallow book.
