According to the latest report, major Litecoin mining pools were hit by a Denial-of-Service (DOS) attack this weekend due to a zero-day vulnerability in the network. The Litecoin Foundation confirmed that the bug has been patched and the network is fully operational.

Litecoin Attacker Attempts Double-Spend Exploits On Cross-Chain Protocols
On Saturday, April 25, the Litecoin Foundation reported in a post on the X platform that a Denial-of-Service attack occurred on its network. According to the foundation, this exploit, enabled by a zero-day bug in the network’s MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB) privacy layer, allowed the bad actor to attempt double-spends against cross-chain swap protocols.

The foundation explained that the vulnerability allowed non-updated mining nodes to facilitate an invalid MWEB transaction, which enabled individuals to peg out coins to third-party decentralized exchanges. This DOS attack caused a disruption to the normal operations of major mining pools, the post-mortem report read.

The Litecoin Foundation noted that the attack was mitigated through a 13-block reorganization (reorg), which reversed the invalid transactions and prevented them from being added to the blockchain. “All valid transactions during that period remain unaffected,” the foundation further clarified.

It is worth noting that the Litecoin Foundation didn’t identify any affected pools and didn’t specify the value of the invalid MWEB transactions created. Meanwhile, this incident comes at a time when blockchain insecurity has been rife, with the industry still reeling from the recent Kelp DAO attack.

Crypto analyst Ali Martinez said the level he is watching most closely is $0.1018, arguing that $DOGE needs a sustained four-hour close above that resistance, backed by rising volume, to confirm a bullish breakout.

That call comes as Dogecoin is trading near $0.0985, according to CoinMarketCap, with a 24-hour trading volume of about $956.5 million and a market capitalization of roughly $16.7 billion. What makes Martinez’s setup interesting is that Dogecoin has already spent much of April trading in a tight, frustrating range.

Babylon Foundation has announced a $3 million $USDT deposit into Aave, as a support to current recovery efforts across the DeFi ecosystem. This comes at a time when several projects are working together to stabilize markets after the recent rsETH disruption.

As per the announcement, $2 million will be deployed into Aave V3, and the remaining $1 million will go into V4. The foundation said that the capital would provide liquidity support alongside recovery plans.

Babylon also explained how the money will be used over time. Any interest generated from the deposit will be redirected back into the Aave ecosystem. This will be done via incentives for future integrations between Babylon and Aave. The idea is to make sure the same capital enables immediate recovery as well as long-term adoption.

European Union (EU) Tightens Sanctions on Russia: Complete Ban on Cryptocurrencies!

Russia faced very harsh sanctions after invading Ukraine. The European Union was one of those imposing sanctions on Russia, and with its latest decision, the EU has tightened sanctions against Russia.

The European Union has imposed the most comprehensive sanctions against Russia in two years, tightening its restrictions on cryptocurrencies.

According to CoinDesk, the EU, in its 20th round of sanctions targeting Russia, significantly strengthened regulations on cryptocurrency-related activities and banned all crypto platforms.

The EU has imposed a complete ban on crypto asset service providers (CASPs) and platforms in Russia, while also completely prohibiting the use of the digital ruble (CBDC) and the ruble-pegged stablecoin RUBx.

This move comes amid growing concerns that Russia is increasingly using cryptocurrencies to circumvent existing sanctions.

In this context, individuals and companies within the EU are also prohibited from trading with and providing services related to crypto assets and decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms in Russia and Belarus. Furthermore, they are prohibited from offering crypto-related services under the MiCA regulation.

The institutions targeted by the sanctions include 20 Russian banks, four foreign financial institutions connected to the SPFS (Russian financial messaging system) payment network, and the Kyrgyzstan-based TengriCoin exchange.

The company added 101,901 $ETH over the last week, edging out the previous week's haul of 101,627 $ETH to rank as the firm's largest weekly $ETH buy so far this year. Last week's total included a 10,000 $ETH over-the-counter purchase from the Ethereum Foundation, which announced the sale on Friday.
All told, the company now holds 5,078,386 $ETH, currently valued around $11.75 billion.

An earlier AMBCrypto report reasoned out why STABLE could be rallying. Increased stablecoin adoption in RWAs and traditional finance meant stablecoins were being pushed into everyday financial flows.
