Bitcoin is currently struggling around $65K, with $67.5K emerging as a key resistance level. Kalshi traders see a 54% chance of BTC reaching $67,500 in August, while the odds fall to 31% for $70K and 13% for $72.5K.

BTC is also trading below the short-term holder realized price near $67,523, which could trigger selling pressure if price reaches that zone. Meanwhile, Bitcoin ETFs recorded around 11,792 BTC ($754M) in weekly inflows, offering some bullish support.

However, analyst Joao Wedson believes Bitcoin may not have reached its bottom yet, suggesting the current move could still be a correction rather than a confirmed market bottom.

Empire Digital, one of the companies that places Bitcoin at the center of its treasury strategy, has made a significant change to its reserves. According to the company’s latest quarterly report, Empire Digital sold a total of 1,635 $BTC for $102.2 million between July 1 and August 6.

Following the sales, the total amount of Bitcoin held by the company decreased to 1,279 $BTC. According to the data, not all of these assets are for the company’s free use. 954 $BTC of Empire Digital’s Bitcoin holdings are pledged as collateral for a $35 million debt. Therefore, the amount of Bitcoin that the company has freely available for use, not pledged as collateral, is estimated at 325 $BTC.

Empire Digital’s sale has brought back into focus the risks faced by companies using Bitcoin as a corporate treasury asset. While some companies have recently increased their Bitcoin reserves, changes in market conditions and financing needs are leading some institutions to sell a portion of their $BTC holdings.

Price movements are particularly important for companies that use Bitcoin as collateral for debt. Sharp drops in the $BTC price can reduce the value of collateral, leading to a need for additional collateral or asset sales. Empire Digital holding 954 $BTC as debt collateral also indicates that a significant portion of the Bitcoin on the company’s balance sheet is illiquid.

The company’s sale of 1,635 $BTC represents a significant portion of its existing reserves. The sales, generating approximately $102.2 million in revenue, indicate that Empire Digital has significantly reduced its Bitcoin position.

A sweep of nearby highs could still trigger a pullback toward $62,800-$63,300, while a sustained break above $68,400-$70,000 would strengthen the broader bullish outlook and signal a larger move may be developing.

Bitcoin Nears $65.4K Liquidity as “Staircase Up” Raises Pullback Risk

Bitcoin is grinding higher toward a key liquidity area near $65,400, but Kaz’s chart argues that the slow advance may be vulnerable to a sharper reversal. The setup highlights a possible final sweep above nearby highs before $BTC retraces toward support around $62,800-$63,300.

$BTC is trading just below the chart’s marked $65,336 resistance area after forming a sequence of higher lows and gradual upward steps. Kaz describes the structure as a classic “staircase up,” where price climbs steadily rather than accelerating through resistance.

The bearish interpretation is that this type of controlled rise can leave the market exposed to a faster move in the opposite direction once buyers lose momentum. The chart illustrates that scenario with an initial push above the current range, followed by a projected decline — the “elevator down” portion of the setup.

Before that happens, Kaz identifies approximately $65,400 as an important upside level that remains unswept. The chart suggests Bitcoin could first trade into or slightly above that area to take liquidity sitting around previous highs. Such a move would not automatically confirm a sustainable breakout because $BTC would still need to hold above the resistance zone rather than quickly fall back beneath it.
