Sablier Labs halts development, enters maintenance mode until 2028

Paul Razvan Berg, co-founder and CEO of Sablier Labs, mentioned in a blog post dated July 13, that they have halted the development of their token-streaming protocol, although it will be kept in the maintenance mode until June 2028. All the existing flows will keep operating, and their core contracts are now available as open source.

The decision marks the end of almost four years of intense work at Sablier. The company was the first to introduce on-chain money streaming, which is a method of transferring tokens constantly over a predetermined period instead of making one large payment.

Berg explained the closure quite frankly by saying that after a hard first quarter, he is no longer able to imagine “a credible path to becoming the venture-scale, independent business” Sablier set out to build.

What changes, and what does not

For users who have active streams or vesting schedules, the immediate consequences are negligible. Their tokens are safe from Sablier Labs’ decision since all the smart contracts used by the protocol are permissionless and non-custodial. This means that streams, vesting plans, and airdrop claims continue to function on-chain even if the company stops developing the project. Berg also assured clients that there is no need to exit your positions just because Sablier Labs is entering the maintenance mode.

The most significant modifications pertain to the future use of the official platform and not to existing uses. As of July 13, the Sablier Interface is no longer able to allow for the creation of vesting streams or airdrops past June 2028, and it has stopped supporting any open-ended payment streams altogether.

Sablier Labs has also reiterated that there will be no launch of any new products or expansion into new blockchain networks.

Mark Yusko claims that Elon Musk and Mark Cuban hold most of the cryptocurrency’s circulating supply.

The analysis compares the memecoin’s financial structure with the recent initial public offering (IPO) of the aerospace company SpaceX.

The report points to a risk of total capitulation in the digital asset’s price if major holders decide to liquidate their positions.

The popular dog-themed memecoin, Dogecoin, could face a scenario of absolute devaluation if its main commercial driver decides to liquidate his assets in the open market.

Recently, venture capital investor Mark Yusko stated that the asset’s current valuation is not grounded in traditional financial fundamentals. The expert argues that the token’s price is sustained solely by the implicit commitment of its largest holders to retain their positions over the long term.

Supply Concentration and Parallels with SpaceX

The distribution of tokens across the network represents one of the most significant vulnerabilities for the ecosystem. Yusko suggests that Mark Cuban and Elon Musk hold the vast majority of the dog-themed coin’s available supply, complemented by a retail investor base holding the value purely out of speculation. The analyst warns that if Musk were to sell even a single token, the price could immediately plunge to zero.

This week could set the tone for H2, with June’s CPI release likely to define crypto’s near‐term direction.

From a macro standpoint, the crypto market is heading into another heavy week, with eight key economic events on the calendar that could shape investor sentiment. However, the main focus will be June’s inflation data, set for release on the 14th and 15th of July.

This comes at a crucial time for the market. After weeks of uncertainty, U.S. President Donald Trump officially severed the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, sending oil prices sharply higher and adding fresh macro pressure on Bitcoin. With inflation back in focus, this week’s CPI data could be the key macro catalyst, setting the near-term direction for crypto markets.

And the data already reflects that shift.

As the chart above shows, rate hike expectations have climbed sharply over the past week. The odds of a rate hike have jumped to 34.7%, up from around 18% just a week ago. That signals the market is increasingly pricing in sticky inflation and a more hawkish Fed.

Naturally, that puts even more focus on this week’s CPI print. Another hotter-than-expected inflation reading could trigger another risk-off move across markets. This playbook has been observed before.

After May’s inflation surged to a multi-year high of 4.3%, Bitcoin went on to close June down 20% as investors pulled back. The question now is whether Bitcoin [BTC] is on track for another double-digit correction in July.
