Crypto pundit BankXRP has highlighted that Ripple’s recent investment is strategic and boosts XRP’s utility as a cross-border payment asset. This comes as Ripple continues to expand its operations, with moves to further integrate XRP in its operations.

How Ripple’s Move Is Strategic For XRP
In an X post, BankXRP noted that Ripple’s backing of the cross-chain router Squid is strategic rather than random, as Squid supports the XRP Ledger as an integrated chain alongside Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, Stellar, and Cosmos. He added that the platform supports native-to-native swaps across over 1,000 apps and DeFi services.

As such, the pundit declared that Ripple just made the XRP Ledger accessible to the entire crypto ecosystem, thanks to its investment. Crypto commentator Xaif had first drawn attention to the investment, revealing that the crypto firm had backed the $6 million funding round for Squid. The cross-chain router is said to be live across more than 100 networks, with $6 billion in routed volume.

In line with this, Xaif declared that Ripple isn’t just building on the XRP Ledger but is also funding the infrastructure that connects all chains. Notably, at the Consensus Conference, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted that the crypto space will continue to comprise several networks, indicating that the goal was to make their operations available across these networks in addition to the XRPL.

Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin is natively issued on the Ethereum network alongside XRPL. Ripple has also partnered with Wormhole to expand the stablecoin to Ethereum layer-2 networks such as Base, Optimism, and Unichain. Meanwhile, Ripple’s custody services expand beyond the XRP Ledger as it provides custody services for Ethereum and Solana, along with staking services.

Bitcoin bulls mounted a new push over the weekend, clawing their way back to an important technical level around $77,400 that served as a ceiling two times during these rallies. That price level has now become the immediate line between a failed bounce and a stronger move into the upper CME gap.

Bulls Push Out Of The Descending Channel
Bitcoin’s 4-hour chart shows a cryptocurrency still struggling to break through a stubborn resistance area. On Saturday, a bullish surge carried BTC up to $77,439, only for sellers to step in immediately and push the price back down to $74,500. Buying pressure returned with enough force on Sunday again to push the Bitcoin price up to retest the same $77,400 to $77,430 zone.

Notably, this back-and-forth movement is part of a descending channel pattern structure on the 4-hour timeframe. The Sunday bounce has now carried Bitcoin back above the upper area of the channel, and Bitcoin needs to break and hold.

At the time of writing, BTC is trading at $77,490, meaning bulls are currently holding above $77,400. That does not mean the bullish case is confirmed yet, as the earlier rejections showed that sellers are still defending this resistance. Therefore, a quick wick above the level would not be enough. Bulls need a convincing close above the zone, followed by enough support to keep the price from falling back inside the channel.

Next Target Is $79,450 CME Gap
According to a crypto analyst on the social media platform X, the next target for Bitcoin bulls is a CME gap around the $79,000 region, with an emphasis on $79,450 as the major level within this gap.

Polkadot Tightens Validator Requirements
According to the team, the change is a mandatory prerequisite for the next phase of Polkadot's staking redesign. OpenGov currently shows 100% Aye support, with enactment targeted for May 31.
"Non-compliant validators will face significant risk of chilling," the post reads.

Once enacted, nominators become unslashable, and the unbonding period drops from 28 days to 24-48 hours. By mid-June, the network will add rewards for validators in unlocked DOT tied to their self-stake.
After the issuance buffer starts funding stablecoin payouts, these DOT rewards will be subject to a one-year vesting period.
Stablecoins will handle operational expenses.
As a result, the commission model will be phased out, as it no longer serves a purpose.
Polkadot said the reasoning behind the change is "simple." Validators directly shoulder slashing risk through substantial self-bond exposure. At the same time, nominators can continue earning staking rewards without risking their principal to slashing.
"If enacted, Polkadot staking would remove its two largest barriers to participation:
Lower risk. Faster exits," the team added.
The redesign is one of the most significant rewires of Polkadot's staking economics, but the heavy lifting is still ahead. Validators have to actually post the 10,000 DOT before May 31 to avoid being chilled.
