Crypto King Barry Silbert: Privacy Era is Here

Digital Currency Group (DCG) founder and CEO Barry Silbert has declared on X (formerly Twitter) that "the 'privacy' era in crypto has officially begun." This appears to be growing sentiment within the cryptocurrency industry.

Zcash (ZEC), a privacy-focused altcoin that has caught the attention of Wall Street institutional investors, is now spearheading this movement after the privacy coin saw a blistering rally.

The "Bitcoin playbook"
Silbert, a long-time advocate for financial privacy, is convinced that Zcash is currently mirroring one of Bitcoin's most historic bull runs.

As reported by U.Today, the "crypto king" behind the crypto venture giant Digital Currency Group has argued that the privacy coin is executing the "2013-2014 bitcoin playbook."

Hence, BTC is currently setting the stage for a massive "2015-2020" style breakout.

Silbert believes that there is a change in how the market understands digital privacy.

In the early days of crypto, many investors (falsely) believed Bitcoin transactions were completely anonymous.

Today, however, powerful blockchain analytics firms have proven that Bitcoin's public ledger can be easily traced.

"In 2015, we had no clue there was $2 trillion in demand for a global, decentralized digital store of value like bitcoin," Silbert explained on X. "In 2015, we also thought bitcoin was, generally speaking, a private way to store and send value around the world. Zcash will benefit from not knowing better."

Zcash's implementation of zero-knowledge proofs (zk-SNARKs) makes it possible to "shielded addresses," which ensure complete privacy.

In a recent statement, Hoskinson revealed that he has begun analyzing more than 11,000 DAOs alongside over a decade of governance literature from both blockchain and traditional organizational systems.

According to him, the research aims to identify governance improvements that could eventually be integrated into Cardano through constitutional changes and new governance technologies.

The initiative comes during one of the most divisive governance periods Cardano has faced since introducing its decentralized governance framework.

Even with Solana falling 33% in Q1 2026 to roughly $83, Messari’s latest “State of Solana” report paints a much more nuanced picture than the price action alone suggests.
Most dollar-based metrics declined during the quarter, largely because of the broader market downturn. But under the surface, the network continued to expand in ways that are difficult to ignore.
The standout statistic was transaction activity. Solana reached a new all-time high of 112.6 million average daily non-vote transactions in Q1 — up 50% from the previous quarter and 15% higher than the prior record set in Q2 2025. In practical terms, more transactions were processed on Solana each day than at any other point in the network’s history, despite the sharp drop in SOL’s market price.
At the same time, the network’s real-world asset (RWA) sector continued growing, surpassing $2 billion in market capitalization. Validator revenue also remained surprisingly stable, showing that network participation and infrastructure economics held up even during weaker market conditions.
Messari’s “Chain GDP” metric — which tracks total application revenue generated across the ecosystem — was nearly unchanged at $342.2 million, compared with $341.8 million in Q4 2025. That stability suggests users continued spending and interacting with applications even as speculative sentiment cooled.
Among Solana-based apps, Pump.fun remained the dominant revenue generator, bringing in $124.7 million during the quarter, a 17% increase quarter-over-quarter. Axiom followed with $42.4 million in revenue, climbing 36% from the previous quarter.
The biggest breakout story, however, was Bags, a launchpad that allows users to share trading fees with social-media-linked accounts. Bags posted explosive 1,347% revenue growth to $11.5 million in January, fueled by a surge of interest in meme coins connected to open-source AI projects.

Kalshi has backed a new lobbying group for prediction markets called Americans for Fair Markets, which has tapped former deputy White House chief of staff Taylor Budowich as its strategic advisor.

Kalshi said on Friday that the organization is positioning itself against sportsbooks and casinos, which it claims are “focused on protecting their monopolies and seeding lies about prediction markets to policymakers.”

Americans for Fair Markets, which Kalshi said was launched with its support, would join a broader lobbying push that includes the Coalition for Prediction Markets, an advocacy group for prediction markets launched in December 2025, backed by Coinbase, Crypto.com, and Robinhood.

Kalshi said the organization aims to shape federal policy on prediction markets and would run paid campaigns on what it claimed were “false narratives about prediction markets.”

The launch of the group came on the same day that the US House launched a probe into Kalshi and its main rival, Polymarket, over how the companies were handling insider trading, as prediction markets come under increased scrutiny in the US and abroad.

Budowich’s appointment as an advisor comes as US President Donald Trump has expressed mixed takes on prediction markets. Trump said last month that he was “not happy” with prediction markets over well-timed Iran war bets.

However, Trump, whose son Donald Trump Jr. invested in Polymarket and joined the company’s advisory board and is an adviser to Kalshi, softened his stance days later, saying the US would “get left out in the cold” if it didn’t allow the platforms.

Kalshi said that Americans for Fair Markets will support the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in regulating prediction markets.

The CFTC and state regulators have faced off over competing claims for jurisdiction, with states claiming prediction markets are violating local gambling laws, while the CFTC has claimed sole jurisdiction over the platforms.
