The market is once again stuck in the classic fight between fear and greed.
Presently, Bitcoin sits at the center of that battle. Technically, $BTC has lost its mid-April support around $73k, with the price already down 4.78% this week and the latest sell-off pushing the wick as low as $72k.
What's more important is that the weakness is now spilling into on-chain data too. As the chart below shows, around 42% of Bitcoin's circulating supply is currently sitting at a loss.
That's over 8 million $BTC underwater, with most of those coins likely held by short-term holders who entered the market at unfavorable levels.

A software bug caused block production to stop across validators.

The sui token fell during the outage before stabilizing.

Sui crypto returned online after a prolonged network interruption that halted transaction processing across its mainnet. The outage lasted nearly six hours on May 29 and stemmed from a software flaw introduced in a recent update.

The disruption marked the second major downtime event for the blockchain this year and briefly pressured the sui token.

The incident occurred during a period of growing attention for Sui crypto. Developers had recently promoted new network features, while institutional interest increased around the ecosystem. The latest outage shifted focus toward infrastructure reliability as traders assessed the impact on network activity and user confidence.

Bitcoin retail sentiment still matters, says Swan Bitcoin CEO
Despite the growing institutional presence in crypto, retail sentiment is just as important as it was when Wall Street was largely on the sidelines, according to Swan Bitcoin CEO Cory Klippsten.

“It still does. You have to remember it's not like BlackRock owns the Bitcoin and Fidelity owns the Bitcoin. It's a bunch of retail accounts mostly that actually buy that,” Klippsten said during an interview with Cointelegraph published to YouTube on Tuesday.

“You know they're buying it in a wrapper. But they still have to take real supply and custody it. And it comes out of the supply. So, you know, it's still it is real demand in ETFs,” Klippsten said, adding:

“There are some paper products and futures and things like that that are weird and take a little while to kind of work through the system. There is something to the idea that there is more supply in certain ways. But at the end of the day, if you want real on-chain Bitcoin, the fact that you can get it is what makes Bitcoin unique.”

US-based spot Bitcoin ETFs have posted a combined $2.90 billion in net outflows since May 15, according to Farside data, while Bitcoin has slid approximately 9.5% over the same period. At the time of publication, Bitcoin is trading at $73,630, according to CoinMarketCap.
Meanwhile, sentiment toward the crypto market has been volatile in 2026. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index, which measures overall crypto market sentiment, posted an “Extreme Fear” score of 23 on Friday, signaling that investors are taking a cautious approach to the crypto market.

The freeze prevents holders of confidential $USDC (cUSDC) from redeeming the tokens for standard $USDC. The action raises fresh questions about issuer control over privacy-focused Decentralized Finance (DeFi) protocols.

Circle Blacklist Halts cUSDC Redemptions

Circle, the issuer of $USDC, maintains a built-in blacklist on the $USDC smart contract. Authorized Circle accounts add addresses, and blacklisted addresses cannot send or receive the stablecoin.

The frozen contract is an ERC-1967 proxy that holds $USDC on behalf of cUSDC token holders. Zama’s privacy protocol uses fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) to conceal balances and transfer amounts on public chains.

On-chain investigator ZachXBT traced the underlying funds to a wallet, which deposited 12.4 million $USDC into Zama on May 11. The wallet appears to belong to Overnight Finance.
