The job cuts come just months after CEO Adam Boyes left Iron Galaxy in August. Under a month and a half into the year 2025, hundreds of developers have already lost their jobs. Iron Galaxy Studios has announced the layoff of 66 employees. The company shared the news in a LinkedIn post, explaining that the decision was necessary for the company to weather the slow recovery facing the gaming industry. Besides their latest original IP Rumbleverse, Iron Galaxy developed PC ports for multiple AAA titles like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, The Last of Us Part I, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. The Last of Us Part II Remastered. Source: Naughty Dog/Sony “This was a means of last resort for us,” Iron Galaxy stated. The company emphasized that it had already made significant sacrifices to avoid workforce reductions but ultimately reached a point where layoffs were the only viable option. The studio’s leadership expressed deep regret over the cuts, calling them a painful but necessary step to protect the long-term viability of the company. Despite the layoffs, according to the statement, Iron Galaxy remains committed to continuing its work in the gaming industry. “We are still focused on serving our partners in the creation of games,” the statement continued. “We will continue to explore new ways to support the industry we love and keep working toward its ongoing recovery.” This round of layoffs is a part of a broader trend in the gaming industry. In the  very beginning of 2025, hundreds of developers have already lost their jobs, with significant cuts affecting companies like Ubisoft, Bandai Namco Studios and BioWare.  The job cuts come just months after CEO Adam Boyes left Iron Galaxy in August after being with the company for nearly a decade. The studio’s leadership team made sure to acknowledge the difficult circumstances and expressed gratitude toward the affected employees. “Our focus is on our teammates who have begun a journey toward their next role.
