This week's major token unlocks feature significant releases from LayerZero (ZRO) and ZKsync (ZK), each exceeding 3% of their circulating supply. LayerZero will unlock 25.71 million ZRO tokens, valued at approximately $48.85 million. LayerZero is an omnichain interoperability protocol designed for lightweight cross-chain messaging, offering secure and configurable trustless communication. Concurrently, ZKsync will unlock 173 million ZK tokens, with an approximate value of $3.98 million. XRP has made history with the launch of zero-knowledge (ZK) privacy transactions on the XRP Ledger testnet, introduced by the DNA Protocol. This technology allows real-world data to be converted into ZK proofs, enabling verification on-chain without exposing sensitive information. As a result, institutions—including banks and governments—can confirm KYC, medical records, and compliance data without accessing the actual details. Starknet has launched strkBTC, a ZK-driven privacy solution for Bitcoin. It uses Starknet's zero-knowledge technology to shield transaction details and balances on the public ledger, addressing growing security concerns like targeted robberies and AI-powered wallet tracking. The system is designed to be compliance-ready, featuring view keys for authorized audits and third-party screening to prevent illicit funds. Future plans include confidential DeFi activities on Starknet, quantum-resistant cryptography, integration with BitVM for enhanced security, and a long-term goal of a trustless bridge via a Bitcoin OP_CAT soft fork. The initiative aims to make Bitcoin function as private digital cash while maintaining necessary accountability.

Loopring has officially shut down its decentralized exchange, ending one of Ethereum's earliest zk-rollup platforms. The project, which raised $45 million in 2017, pioneered scaling solutions but ultimately failed to achieve significant user adoption. The team cited several reasons for the closure: the platform's lack of a virtual machine limited developer innovation, business execution was insufficient, and new zkEVM networks like zkSync and StarkNet surpassed its technology. User funds remain safe, with a two-week balance verification period before direct distribution to wallets begins. This follows the discontinuation of its wallet services in 2025, marking Loopring's complete exit from the DEX business.
