The upgrade introduces a new transaction version (v1), which is backward compatible with the existing v0 format. However, infrastructure like RPC services, block explorers, and indexers must update to handle v1 transactions; otherwise, they may fail with error code -32015 or misread transaction data. Anza engineers, who authored the proposal, have mandated RPC providers to upgrade to Agave v4.2, with mainnet deployment scheduled for September 9 following a successful testnet activation on September 1.

Crypto platform Pump.fun, known for Solana-based memecoin creation, appears to be expanding beyond its niche. Blockchain data suggests new stock-related trading pairs have been added to its platform. It is currently unclear if these are direct tokenized equities or other blockchain-based assets tracking stock prices.
