Resumo

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission, the state-issued digital dollar issuer, has migrated its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. Under a multi-year agreement, CCIP will be the sole cross-chain interoperability infrastructure for the token. FRNT is the first fiat-reserve-backed stablecoin issued by a U.S. state authority, designed for payments, settlements, and other government and commercial operations. It currently operates on multiple networks including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Hedera, Optimism, Polygon, and Solana. Initially, the commission used LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token standard to issue FRNT across multiple blockchains. Following a review of LayerZero's disclosure practices and operational security assurances, the commission decided to switch systems. Wyoming has been developing FRNT's multi-chain model since 2023. The move to CCIP will maintain the token's availability across several public blockchains while replacing the infrastructure for its transfer between networks. The commission states this will enhance operational security as the state expands its use of digital assets.

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission — the state-issued digital dollar issuer — has transferred the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. As part of a multi-year agreement, CCIP will become the sole infrastructure for the token’s cross-chain interoperability. Chainlink provides infrastructure for transferring data and assets between blockchains.

FRNT is the first fiat-reserve-backed stablecoin issued by a U.S. state authority. The token is intended for payments, settlements, and other state and commercial transactions. Currently, FRNT operates on the Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Hedera, Optimism, Polygon, and Solana networks.

Initially, the commission used the LayerZero Omnichain Fungible Token standard to issue FRNT across multiple blockchains simultaneously. Following a review of LayerZero’s information disclosure practices and operational security assurances, the commission decided to abandon this system.

Wyoming has been developing the FRNT multi-chain model since 2023. The transition to CCIP will allow the token to remain available across multiple public blockchains while replacing the infrastructure for its transfer between networks. According to the commission, this should enhance operational security as the state expands its use of digital assets.

QWhat is the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), and who issued it?

AThe Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) is the first fiat-reserve-backed stablecoin issued by a U.S. state authority, specifically the Wyoming Stable Token Commission. It is designed for payments, settlements, and other state and commercial operations.

QFrom which interoperability protocol did the Wyoming Stable Token Commission migrate FRNT, and to which one?

AThe Wyoming Stable Token Commission migrated FRNT from the LayerZero protocol to the Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).

QWhat reason did the Wyoming Commission give for switching from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP?

AThe Commission decided to switch after evaluating LayerZero's approaches to information disclosure and operational security assurances. The move to CCIP is intended to enhance operational security as the state expands its use of digital assets.

QOn which blockchain networks does the FRNT stablecoin currently operate?

AFRNT currently operates on the Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Hedera, Optimism, Polygon, and Solana blockchain networks.

QWhat was the initial technology used by the Commission to issue FRNT across multiple blockchains?

AInitially, the Commission used LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard to issue FRNT across multiple blockchains simultaneously.
