Decoding the Aster-Hyperliquid rivalry – Why THIS is critical for ASTER

Resumo

Aster (ASTER) is facing significant bearish pressure, largely influenced by Bitcoin's recent drop below $94.5k. The token has struggled to maintain key support, falling below the psychological $1 level in mid-December and failing to reclaim it despite a minor bounce in early January. Hyperliquid (HYPE) is currently outperforming Aster in popularity and trading volume, adding competitive pressure. Technical indicators on the daily chart reinforce seller dominance, with the A/D indicator declining and the Awesome Oscillator briefly crossing bullish before turning negative again. The DMI confirms a strong downtrend. A short-term relief rally is possible, but the $0.68–$0.70 zone may now act as resistance. A daily close below $0.658 could lead to further declines toward $0.55. For any sustained bullish reversal, Aster needs to break above $0.81 and ultimately reclaim $1.

Aster [ASTER] faced difficulty on the price charts. The short-term sell-off can be attributed to the market-wide volatility following Bitcoin’s [BTC] drop below $94.5k support.

The longer-term downtrend of the token was a reflection of market sentiment. In a post on X, Cryptorank showed that Hyperliquid [HYPE] was the more popular decentralized exchange among the two.

Hyperliquid is ranked first by volume and the 24-hour open interest. Aster needs to reclaim market share before its token performance can begin to reflect its position.

Aster threatens to make bearish structure break...once more!

The 1-day chart was extremely bearish.

In mid-December, Aster fell below the psychological $1 support level, leaving behind an imbalance (white). This imbalance ranged from $0.83-$0.91. In the first week of January, the Aster token bounced toward this supply zone.

It was unable to test it, instead falling short at $0.813, marking it as the downtrend’s latest lower high. It should be noted that a price bounce beyond $1 was necessary to bring about the beginning of a bullish trend.

The technical indicators on the daily chart reinforced the seller dominance.

Moreover, the A/D indicator began to slide downward in the past two weeks. The Awesome Ostillator had made the faintest of bullish crossovers over the weekend before immediately being forced below the zero line once more.

The DMI, alongside the price making new lows, confirmed that a strong bearish trend was in progress.

What’s next for Aster?

In the coming days, another relief rally is likely. Aster has fallen a long way, and some respite is necessary. Based on the most recent drop, a set of Fibonacci retracement levels was plotted.

It showed that the 78.6% level at $0.695 had confluence with the $0.683-$0.703 supply zone. This region had previously been a demand zone that bulls defended over the past three weeks, but the recent flurry of selling has exhausted the buyers.

Traders’ call to action- Wait for the bounce

The higher timeframe chart confirmed the bearish bias of ASTER, while the lower timeframe price action indicated a potential price bounce. Previously, the bears demonstrated their strength when the supply zone at $0.83 was not even tested.

A similar situation as the failure to reach $0.83, with $0.68-$0.70 not being tested, is possible, especially if Bitcoin fails to bounce back above $94.5k this week.

A move beyond $0.81 and $1 is needed before long-term buyers can enter the market with some degree of certainty.

Final Thoughts

  • Monday’s close below $0.658 would signal ASTER is headed for another downward leg on the price chart.
  • Such a close could see the $0.68-$0.70 area tested as resistance before the $0.55 lows are targeted once more.

Bitcoin's 'Rally Ends,' Officially Entering the Later Stage of a Bear Market?

Bitcoin prices declined 13% this week, reversing the recent rebound and signaling a likely transition into the later stages of a bear market. Key on-chain metrics deteriorated, with the short-term holder cost basis falling below the Realized Price—a pattern last seen in early 2022, characteristic of bear market maturity. The rally to ~$82k proved to be a bear market bounce, as evidenced by the 90-day realized profit/loss ratio failing to sustain above the bullish threshold of 2. Daily realized losses surged to $1.35B, including significant selling from long-term holders who accumulated near cycle tops, indicating ongoing supply redistribution. Price was rejected almost precisely at the aggregate US spot ETF cost basis of ~$83k, turning that level into resistance and leaving the average ETF investor underwater again. Spot market selling pressure intensified, with the 7-day volume delta turning significantly negative to its weakest level since February. While a major long liquidation event cleared over $400M in leverage, spot demand has not yet stepped in to absorb the resulting supply. Options markets continue pricing in higher future volatility (elevated volatility risk premium) and maintain a skew toward put options, reflecting persistent demand for downside protection, though not yet panic. Overall, market structure remains fragile. Sustained recovery likely requires a reclaim of the ETF cost basis, a shift back to positive spot demand, and a slowdown in realized loss-taking. Until then, the market risks further downside or extended consolidation within the broader bear trend.

How Risky is the "Death Spiral" of MSTR and STRC?

Summary: This article explores the perceived "death spiral" risk between MicroStrategy (MSTR), its Bitcoin holdings, and its perpetual preferred stock (STRC), drawing comparisons to the LUNA-UST collapse. While both systems feature price anchors, high yields for holders, and potential feedback loops, their core mechanisms differ fundamentally. The MSTR-STRC structure relies on continuous financing to sustain its high dividend payouts, primarily through stock ATM offerings. A negative feedback cycle could occur: falling MSTR stock price makes raising equity capital harder, increasing pressure to sell Bitcoin, which undermines STRC confidence and further depresses MSTR. However, unlike LUNA-UST's automated, direct linkage, the MSTR-STRC loop is weaker and has brakes: STRC dividends can be deferred or rates lowered, and STRC holders have a $100/share liquidation preference in bankruptcy, providing a price floor. The company's sustainability hinges on its ability to continue financing. Its current ~$900 million USD reserves cover only about 6.3 months of its ~$1.71 billion annual interest/dividend burden. The next six months are critical, aligning with both the potential bottom in Bitcoin's four-year cycle and the depletion timeline of its reserves. While a LUNA-style catastrophic collapse is deemed highly unlikely due to structural differences, the key question is whether MicroStrategy can navigate this period through healthy deleveraging to restart its capital engine.
