Управляющий Резервного банка Индии (RBI) Санджай Малхотра (Sanjay Malhotra) призвал центральные банки всех стран использовать вместо стейблкоинов собственные цифровые валюты (CBDC) для международных платежей.

Выступая на ежегодном собрании Группы Всемирного банка и Международного валютного фонда (МВФ) в Вашингтоне, Малхотра выразил опасения, что криптовалюты могут негативно повлиять на кредитно-денежную политику финансовых регуляторов и помешать их борьбе с отмыванием денег. По мнению главы RBI, у цифровых валют центральных банков гораздо больше преимуществ перед стейблкоинами, поскольку CBDC тоже могут использоваться для платежей и денежных переводов, но при этом за них отвечают государства.

Малхотра предложил, чтобы цифровые валюты ЦБ были запущены во всех юрисдикциях, где это возможно. Если одни страны откажутся от внедрения собственных CBDC, то другим странам, принявшим их, станет сложнее взаимодействовать с этими государствами в плане международных платежей, пояснил чиновник.

«Цифровые валюты центробанков — это фиатные деньги, обладающие всеми преимуществами стейблкоинов, и их можно токенизировать. Поэтому всем центробанкам необходимо продвигать эту инициативу. Только так мы сможем внедрить государственные стейблкоины в массы», — заявил Малхотра.

Резервный банк Индии уже несколько лет реализует пилотные проекты по двум типам цифровой рупии — розничной, предназначенной для индивидуальных пользователей, и оптовой, созданной для организаций. Малхотра отметил, что в Индии нет проблем с внутренними платежами, а для трансграничных платежей CBDC станут эффективным решением.

Недавно министр торговли Индии Пиюш Гоял (Piyush Goyal) заявил, что запуск цифровой рупии должен улучшить финансовую систему страны: повысить скорость транзакций и снизить зависимость местных жителей от наличных денег.
