Hackers Withdraw 124.4 Million RIO from Wallets Across Five Blockchains
Realio platform confirmed a hack, with its web app compromised, access halted, and client wallet movements frozen. Hackers withdrew 124.4 million RIO tokens from wallets across five blockchains: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Algorand, Stellar, and the native Realio network.
Investigators traced transactions to addresses created hours before the attack, suggesting a compromise of signature keys held on the platform, not a smart contract exploit. The majority of stolen funds (113.7 million RIO, or 91.4%) came from blockchain reserves (Algorand ASA and Stellar treasury), not from freely circulating investor wallets. User losses totaled 10.7 million RIO (3.27% of circulating supply).
Due to low liquidity, hackers realized only about 3.7% of the stolen tokens' nominal value. For example, sales on Stellar's DEX crashed the price, netting only ~$21,900. As of the report, 68.2 million RIO remain on Stellar and 43.4 million on Algorand in hacker-controlled accounts. The native network is halted. Related projects Freehold and Districts were unaffected, but Algorand and Stellar bridges remain closed indefinitely.
In a separate incident, about $7.5 million was stolen from a TAC blockchain account via a vulnerability in a Cosmos EVM module precompile.
