'Three of the five subcomponents improved in March, and overall confidence has risen slightly for the second consecutive month. However, the index has still shown a downward trend since 2021.' Data also indicated that against the backdrop of oil price shocks triggered by the Iran war, consumers' average and median inflation expectations for the next 12 months surged in March to the highest level since August 2025. The proportion of consumers expecting interest rates to rise over the next 12 months jumped from 34.9% to 42.4%.
