On March 31, CoinDesk reported that Square, the payment company founded by Jack Dorsey, announced on Monday that it has begun automatically enabling Bitcoin payment functionality for millions of eligible small merchants in the United States, without requiring additional setup from the merchants. Transactions are automatically converted to dollars at checkout, allowing merchants to avoid the risks associated with Bitcoin price volatility, and there is no need to adjust custody or accounting processes. This feature will be free of processing fees until 2026.
