Can crypto gift cards expire?

Is it reasonable for crypto gift cards to have expiration dates? Given the volatile nature of cryptocurrency and the potential for long-term investment, imposing an expiration could be seen as unfair to consumers. Shouldn't users have the freedom to redeem their gifts at their convenience, rather than being pressured by time constraints?
