Long-term holders’ historical threshold in focus



Historically, Bitcoin has formed market bottoms when its price falls below the cost basis of long-term holders. That historical relationship is once again under review.

Cost basis refers to the average purchase price of holders who have held the asset for more than 155 days. This typically trends upward over time as new investors mature into the long-term holder category at higher price levels.

According to data from CryptoQuant, the current LTH cost basis stands at $38,900, while Bitcoin traded at $64,890 at the time of writing.


If historical patterns repeat, Bitcoin could eventually retest this zone. On average, previous cycles have seen price decline roughly 20% below the LTH cost basis before staging a rebound that marked the cycle bottom.

However, history does not guarantee repetition. At present levels, Bitcoin remains approximately 66.8% above the long-term holders’ average cost basis.

That wide margin suggests that significant bearish catalysts would be required to force a move toward that threshold.

Notably, the bounce comes after reports revealed that Terraform Labs has sued Jane Street over its alleged role in the Terra collapse. Additional claims accuse Jane Street of dumping large amounts of Bitcoin at exactly 10 AM every day, though this remains unconfirmed

Three days ago, when XRP was trading at $1.34, and Bitcoin had dropped below $65,000, Demanincor highlighted the level at $1.3475. He called this daily buy wall a critical zone. 

According to him, if buyers managed to defend $1.3475, take in the selling pressure, and trap sellers, momentum could swing back in favor of the bulls. His upside range at the time stretched from $1.45 to $1.99. Users of prediction market platform Polymarket are making bets on which crypto platform will be the next target of online sleuth ZachXBT, known for investigations into scams and hacks.

As of Tuesday, Polymarket showed a 29% chance that ZachXBT would name decentralized liquidity platform Meteora on Thursday as part of what was described as a “major investigation” into “one of crypto’s most profitable businesses.” The crypto sleuth said in a Monday X post that the investigation was related to allegations of insider trading.
