Bitcoin ETF inflows approached $1 billion across seven trading sessions before reversing on July 23. You can see why the simultaneous launch of a $15 million security group strengthens Bitcoin's institutional infrastructure without confirming a lasting price recovery.

Bitcoin ETFs drew roughly $999 million across seven positive sessions through July 22.

A $22.6 million outflow on July 23 ended the streak.

Nine firms pledged $15 million for Bitcoin security work over three years.

ETF investors supply fund inflows, while issuers provide access and infrastructure.

The two developments operate on different timelines and should not be treated as one bullish trade.

Bitcoin ETF inflows reached almost $1 billion across seven consecutive trading sessions through July 22, marking the longest positive run since October 2025. One day later, BlackRock, Fidelity Digital Assets and seven other firms launched a separate initiative backed by $15 million in member pledges for Bitcoin security research and open-source development.

The timing creates a broader institutional story, although the two signals require different interpretations. ETF flows measure investor demand over days. Security funding addresses technical risks that may take years to resolve.

Alpaca says it custodies more than $1.5 billion of shares backing tokenized equities, which, by public tracker measurements, would represent most of the market.

With DTCC preparing to launch its own tokenization service in October and the SEC warning that third-party stock tokens can expose investors to additional ownership and intermediary risks, the numbers reveal a concentrated brokerage layer beneath a market promoted as decentralized.

Tokenization is the practice of representing a real-world asset as a digital token on a blockchain, so that owning the token stands in for owning, or at least tracking, the thing itself. Applied to equities, it means a version of Apple or Nvidia stock that exists in a crypto wallet, trades on crypto exchanges around the clock, and moves between buyers in minutes without touching a traditional brokerage account.

Bitcoin's improving profitability offers optimism, but historical trends suggest the market has yet to confirm a lasting cycle shift.
Bitcoin’s [BTC] latest recovery has improved investor profitability, though historical cycle data indicates the market has not yet crossed a decisive turning point.

Profitable supply increased from 46.2% on the 30th of June to 58% on the 21st of July. This was the lowest level in 2026. Over this time, more than 10% of the circulating supply went into realized profits as BTC bounced off the mid-$50,000s to the $60,000s.

However, at press time, the metric had retraced back to 55.2%.

Although previous recoveries in the bear markets were at least 64 percent, previous cycle highs occurred at approximately 69%, 64%, 83%, and 77%. Long-term holders are still accumulating, while short-term holders have continued to sell close to their cost basis with STH SOPR currently at 1.0.

This combination suggests that the selling pressure is easing. However, Bitcoin still needs profitability to move through the 60% to 65% range before matching the stronger recovery structure seen in previous cycles.
