Shiba Inu jumped nearly 40% to a high of $0.00000582 on Sunday, adding about a billion dollars to its market capitalization in a single day. $SHIB is now the 25th largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $3.12 billion.

The rise had no announcement or development to account for it, taking the crypto community by surprise as most digital assets traded down or posted with minimal gains.

Kuro, a prominent $SHIB community member from Japan, reacted to the price rise in a recent X post, saying that Shiba Inu is back where it belongs. He highlighted a surge in momentum as $SHIB gains attention. "The momentum is building, the world is watching," Kuro stated, adding that the "Next stop higher."

A dense cluster of options contracts had the price boxed in, they argued, because the dealers who sold those contracts were buying every dip and selling every rally to keep their own books balanced. Clear the contracts away, and Bitcoin would finally be free to go somewhere.

The contracts have now cleared on two consecutive Fridays, and Bitcoin is sitting roughly where it started. It traded just under $64,000 on Saturday, closing out a week in which it failed to hold $66,000 and then slid back through the level that positioning was supposed to defend. The pretty good explanation has run out of road, and what's left is pretty boring: demand for Bitcoin is thin right now, and it's thin on both sides of the market.

Futures tied to WTI gapped lower on Monday, trading around 5% lower at $85 as of this writing, while those linked to Nasdaq and S&P 500 traded half a percent higher. Currency markets also showed risk-on trends, with the Aussie dollar and euro gaining against the U.S. dollar.The United States and Iran paused military strikes against each other for a second consecutive day, creating room for a diplomatic breakthrough. The war, which began in late February, entered a fragile ceasefire in the second quarter, but it quickly unraveled.

Iran reportedly said that it would continue to halt airstrikes as long as the U.S. did the same, marking a tenous start of what appears to be yet another peace process.
