Russia's largest bank Sberbank plans crypto trading infrastructure by DecemberRussia's largest bank, Sberbank, plans to build cryptocurrency trading infrastructure and launch a digital depository by Dec. 1 as Russia moves to bring crypto trading, custody and settlement into its regulated financial system.

The depository, according to Interfax, will record clients' ownership of cryptocurrency and process most transactions outside the underlying blockchain. Sberbank will operate active wallets for client-initiated deposits, withdrawals and transfers. The plan follows the Federation Council's approval of a law regulating cryptocurrency trading through licensed brokers, exchanges, asset managers and depositories.

The framework is set to take effect Sept. 1, though rules requiring transactions to pass through licensed intermediaries will apply from July 2027.

Public exchange trading will be limited to cryptocurrencies that meet Bank of Russia liquidity thresholds, including an average market capitalization above 5 trillion rubles ($64 billion) and an average daily volume above 1 trillion rubles ($12.8 billion) over 2 years.Qualified investors will be able to access a broader range of assets. Crypto payments for goods and services inside Russia remain prohibited.

Sberbank started offering qualified investors structured bonds tied to bitcoin last year, and completed a bitcoin-backed lending pilot with miner Intelion Data in December.

Russia has been gradually bringing crypto into its regulated financial system.

Strategy needs to monetize BTC after buying time with digital credit framework, Galaxy Research
Alex Thorn, the head of firmwide research at Galaxy Research, shared Galaxy’s analysis on X, adding his voice to the debate regarding Strategy’s newly announced Digital Credit Capital Framework.

The new rules have sparked a debate about whether or not they will solve the company’s capital-structure problems or simply delay them.

How does Strategy’s new capital framework operate?

Strategy (Nasdaq: MSTR) recently disclosed a new “Digital Credit Capital Framework” in a 8-K regulatory filing.

Cryptopolitan reported that the framework grants the company formal permission to sell up to $1.25 billion worth of Bitcoin. Notably, the firm is facing a massive unrealized loss of roughly $14 billion on its holdings of 847,363 $BTC.

The framework creates a formal USD reserve policy that introduces revised dividend terms for its STRC preferred shares, and authorizes separate repurchase programs for both preferred stock and MSTR common shares at $1 billion each.

The board has kept aside the company’s $2.55 billion cash reserve, restricting its use to preferred dividends and debt interest.

If the current spending rates of roughly $1.76 billion annually are retained, this reserve is expected to last for about 17 months. If the full authorized sale of Bitcoin were to be executed, total liquidity would stretch to approximately $3.8 billion, an amount that would cover about 26 months of obligations.

Alex Thorn of Galaxy Research pointed out that the core of the debate is whether these new rules actually solve Strategy’s capital-structure issues or simply delay them.

The company sold 32 $BTC for about $2.5 million in its first-ever Bitcoin sale in late May to cover a dividend payment. JPMorgan recommends that Strategy sell its shares to raise money rather than sell Bitcoin.

The crypto market hasn’t recovered since the bear market began right after the largest liquidation event in its history on 10th October 2025. On that day, over $19 billion were simply wiped out.

Since then, the market has swung through highs and lows, sparking concern over whether the bulls or the bears have the upper hand.

The market now sits at another of those turning points, just after Bitcoin [BTC] cleared the $65,000-resistance and several altcoins printed local highs.

Investors pull back $85 billion

Whether the market records deeper losses is tied directly to its total capitalization, which has shed roughly $85 billion since 21st July.

This decline may be evidence of bearish positioning, profit-taking, or a mix of both. In fact, the drop landed right after the market set a fresh high, hinting towards investors probably locking in their money.

At the time of writing, the Fear and Greed Index seemed to capture this shift. It showed that investors are simply fearful—likely spooked by the prospect of another liquidation.

It had a reading of 35. It alluded to capital sitting largely on the sidelines, despite some quiet accumulation.

Investors are waiting, not exiting

There is an interesting dynamic that might suggest that investors are simply waiting on the sidelines for calm to settle in. For example, the Altcoin Season Index, which tracks whether altcoins are leaning toward a bull run or bear dominance.

At press time, the index was trending upwards, even as the altcoin’s market capitalization slid over the same stretch.

The data shows the Shiba Inu exchange netflow has increased to over 69 billion $SHIB as the amount of $SHIB currently available for sale across all supported exchanges has surged substantially.

With the $SHIB exchange flow sitting at a net balance of 69,237,400,000 $SHIB, it implies that the amount of $SHIB tokens being sent to exchanges for sale over the last day is substantially higher than the amount of tokens removed from the exchanges for buying purposes.

Despite the bearish trend in the Shiba Inu exchange activity, Shiba Inu has taken an unexpected turn with an explosive price move that has seen its price reclaim a previous high.

Unlike previous market situations when bearish netflows are met with extreme price volatility, Shiba Inu has defied the trend this time, resisting the pressure from sellers.

Although the $SHIB exchange activity shows that inflows are outpacing outflows, Shiba Inu has surged by over 10% over the last 24 hours, reclaiming its previous high of $0.000004566.

Nonetheless, the unexpected divergence between the $SHIB price move and exchange netflow suggests that buyers are aggressively absorbing the additional supply entering exchanges.
