Strategy skips a fourth straight week of Bitcoin buying as Saylor teases againOn Sunday, July 26, Michael Saylor posted Strategy’s Bitcoin purchase chart to X. The caption said, “We’re gonna need another color.” It was his fifth such post since the company’s last disclosed Bitcoin purchase on June 22.

MSTR trades as a leveraged proxy for Saylor’s Bitcoin buying, and dozens of treasury companies copied his model. For the first time in two years, Strategy has gone four weeks without adding a single coin to its portfolio.For years, a Sunday night Saylor chart was a reliable predictor of an 8-K filing on Monday. That filing would reveal another tranche of Bitcoin. The signal has been weakening lately. He posted on June 28, “We’re gonna need more charts,” but it was a new capital framework. And then there was the July 5 post right before the largest Bitcoin sale Strategy had ever done.

Saylor floated “green dots” in late November, a day before Strategy announced a $1.44 billion dollar reserve with a 130 $BTC buy. On January 4, he posted a hint for whether coins or cash were coming, asking followers, “Orange or Green?”The Sunday post drew a lot of engagement with more than 11,000 likes and over 1,400 replies. Saylor, however, never explained the caption, and the company confirmed no transaction took place.

Strategy’s market value against its Bitcoin, enterprise mNAV, fell below 1 on June 27. MSTR is trading at a discount to the value of the coins it holds. Selling shares to buy more Bitcoin doesn’t grow Bitcoin per share anymore, it shrinks it. Meanwhile, the preferred stock dividends of Strategy, with STRC lifted to a 12% rate, have to be paid in cash.

Storj files for bankruptcy, explores equity path for tokenholdersDecentralized cloud storage provider Storj Labs has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company said it plans to keep its network running while restructuring legacy liabilities and exploring an ownership pathway for STORJ tokenholders.

On Sunday, Storj said it filed the voluntary case in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. The company said ordinary operations and customer services would continue during the process, subject to court oversight, while its parent company, Inveniam, would continue to support the business.The restructuring could become an unusual test of whether utility-token holders can participate in the ownership of a company emerging from bankruptcy.

In an open letter to its community, Storj said its liabilities largely predate its current strategy and are too substantial to resolve through business growth alone. It said the network continues to operate normally and its token’s utility is unchanged.

STORJ showed no significant immediate price reaction following the announcement, trading around $0.072 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko.Storj said management intends to propose a mechanism allowing tokenholders to participate in the reorganized company’s equity.

However, Storj has not disclosed how tokenholder eligibility would be determined, whether participation would involve a token snapshot or lockup, or how much equity might be allocated. The company acknowledged that any plan must follow bankruptcy priorities and receive court approval.

Cointelegraph reached out to Storj for comment but did not receive a response before publication.

Empery Digital said it invested $20 million in Cardinal Data Power, acquiring an approximately 8% stake in the private developer of powered data center campuses.

The investment was part of Cardinal Data Power’s approximately $70 million Series A financing and will support development of a 750-megawatt data center campus in West Texas. The project is expected to deliver its first power in 2027, expand to about 1 gigawatt by 2029 and eventually exceed 5 gigawatts.

Cardinal develops powered data center campuses for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads. The company said it combines power generation, natural gas supply and electrical infrastructure to accelerate development of large-scale computing sites.

Empery has been moving away from its Bitcoin (BTC) treasury strategy, which it adopted in mid-2025 after pivoting from its former electric powersports business. Earlier this month, the company disclosed it had sold about 1,400 Bitcoin over a two-month period for roughly $87.1 million, using the proceeds to fund AI infrastructure investments and repay debt.

The sale came as Empery faced mounting pressure from shareholder Tice P. Brown, who called on the company to abandon its treasury strategy and sought the resignation of its chief executive officer and board.

Crypto markets are showing early signs of renewed strength, with bitcoin gaining while technology stocks declined, according to Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan.

In a July 22 market commentary, Hougan noted on X that bitcoin rose 9% since July 1 while the Nasdaq-100 fell 6%. He also pointed to improving sentiment and stronger ETF flows, while warning that the market has not received a confirmed bottom.

The executive believes the next crypto cycle will focus on the convergence of blockchain technology and traditional finance rather than another cycle driven mainly by speculation. He described:

“The next crypto bull market will be about stablecoins, tokenization, 24/7 trading, instant settlement, and institutional DeFi scaling to the trillions, disrupting finance the way the internet disrupted media and shopping in the early 2000s.”

The Bitwise CIO said blockchain infrastructure offers advantages including faster settlement, global access, and continuous markets. However, he noted that many investors remain focused on whether crypto has recovered instead of preparing for a broader shift in financial markets.

Hougan’s latest comments build on his previous view that institutional adoption will drive crypto’s next phase. He has argued that bitcoin ETF demand could tighten available supply as more investors gain exposure through traditional financial products.

The Bitwise executive has also pointed to broader market forces supporting a potential crypto recovery, including improving market structure, institutional participation, and growing demand from traditional investors through nine forces aligning for a crypto bull run.
