The development indicates that developing countries are considering boosting their local currency and not depending on foreign handouts. The move can also strengthen the GDP of Indonesia and boost consumerism.Data shows that under the local currency transaction (LCT) framework, the overall payments have reached $8.45 billion in January-February 2026. This is up sharply from $3.21 billion in the same period a year ago. The growth is also supported by the rising number of users, which reached 14,621 in February 2026. The average monthly users have reached 16,030, which is much higher than the previous year of 9,720. This shows that de-dollarization is not forced but is growing organically. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has become the first sitting British MP and party leader to publicly back Bitcoin — a distinction his own company was quick to highlight when it announced his involvement.

A Company Built Around A Single Asset
Stack BTC, listed on the Aquis exchange and chaired by former UK Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng, bought 37 Bitcoin on Monday for roughly $2.7 million, or about £2 million. The purchase price worked out to approximately $72,385 per coin. The company now holds 68.19 BTC in total.

Stack BTC markets itself as a way for UK investors to gain crypto exposure through public markets — essentially a listed vehicle that holds Bitcoin so ordinary shareholders don’t have to hold it themselves. Its share price climbed 7.3% on Monday, closing at $14.42, up from $13.42 at Friday’s close.

Farage already had skin in the game before Monday’s announcement. He disclosed a $286,000 equity stake in Stack BTC, giving him a 6.31% minority holding in the company. Kwarteng holds a stake as well. Both investments were disclosed in March.

In a video tied to Monday’s purchase, Farage said a Bitcoin treasury company could not function without actually holding BTC. Kwarteng said the firm had made significant progress over recent weeks.

This comes on the back of a slow start to the year for digital assets and strict regulatory frameworks from Europe, Asia, and other jurisdictions.In the first three months of the year, decentralized finance (DeFi) hacks were slightly above expectations, though still low compared to previous years. A total of 44 incidents were recorded with losses above $482 million.A major takeaway was the dominance of mid-sized attacks compared to larger ones in the last five years. Many incidents originated off-chain (outside of on-chain code). This constitutes infrastructural layers and technical setups that have become more prone to bad-actor schemes.This first quarter generally marked the lowest since Q1 2023. Last year, the infamous Bybit incident cost the ecosystem over $1.4 billion, eroding market sentiment before bulls took control amid the corporate accumulation frenzy.According to Hacken, phishing and social engineering scams largely dominated, while smart contract losses declined. Specifically, $306 million was lost to phishing incidents, while smart contracts and cloud services incurred $86 million and $71 million in losses, respectively. A further breakdown links $40 million to North Korean hackers, while Resolv Labs’ AWS key was wiped out, costing $25 million. List of 'unsolvable' issues have shrunk, top White House crypto advisory says as momentum builds to pass legislation
Congress is back in Washington after a two-week recess, and a key Senate committee is expected to hold a hearing to vote on that sweeping bill, unlocking the next step to get it passed into law.

“I’m encouraged by the fact that we solved a lot of these [issues] that felt unsolvable,” said Patrick Witt on Monday at an event hosted by the Solana Policy Institute.

President Donald Trump's top crypto advisor is sparking optimism in getting broader cryptocurrency legislation passed into law.

Months ago, negotiations involved a dozen issues that "all felt impractical, unsolvable to camps that had irreconcilable differences," said Patrick Witt, executive director of the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, on Monday at an event hosted by the Solana Policy Institute in Brooklyn. That has since been slimmed down, he added.

"I'm encouraged by the fact that we solved a lot of these that felt unsolvable," Witt added. 

Congress is back in Washington, D.C. after a two-week recess, and a key Senate committee is expected to hold a hearing to vote on that sweeping bill, unlocking the next step to get it passed into law — a major policy goal for the crypto industry. Legislation would clarify jurisdiction between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, establish rules for exchanges, and require disclosures.

One of the most closely watched issues is the treatment of stablecoin rewards, which has drawn attention as the White House, lawmakers, and stakeholders have all weighed in recently.

Stablecoin rewards were addressed in stablecoin law, passed in July, which prohibits stablecoin issuers from paying interest directly to holders. However, it does not restrict third-party platforms, such as Coinbase, from offering rewards.
