MoonPay launches headless onramps for one tap crypto purchases across 100 countries
MoonPay has launched Headless Onramps, a crypto checkout platform that lets wallets, exchanges, and apps offer one-tap crypto purchases through Apple Pay, Google Pay, and cards.
The product is available across the US, the European Economic Area, and more than 100 countries, with launch partners including Moonshot, Bitcoin.com, Bread, and Trust Wallet. MoonPay said the platform is designed to give partners a fully embedded checkout experience while it manages payment rails, compliance, and identity verification in the background.

The launch marks a shift from MoonPay’s existing onramp widget, which gave partners a hosted checkout flow under MoonPay’s brand. Headless Onramps instead works through an API integration, allowing partners to build a white-labeled checkout experience inside their own apps.

For verified users, Apple Pay purchases can be completed inside a partner app with a single tap, without redirects or repeated authentication. New users complete a lightweight onboarding flow inside the app before later purchases become frictionless.

MoonPay said the product reflects rising demand from wallets, exchanges, and crypto apps for embedded checkout flows that keep users inside their own platforms.

AI predicts Bitcoin price for May 22, 2026

Bitcoin ($BTC) is once again under pressure after U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $635 million in net outflows on May 13, the largest single-day withdrawal since late January.

What’s more, the sell-off followed worse-than-expected U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) data, which showed inflation rising 1.4% in April and dampened expectations for near-term Federal Reserve rate cuts.

At the same time, leveraged traders were hit by a wave of liquidations, with roughly $77.95 million in Bitcoin long positions liquidated over the past 24 hours as the asset rejected its 200-day simple moving average (MA) near $82,270.

Traders are now monitoring whether Bitcoin can reclaim the $80,800 level, which has emerged as key near-term resistance. Short-term outlook, however, appears fragile, at least according to machine learning algorithms.

Finbold’s AI prediction agent analyzed Bitcoin’s short-term trajectory, the final result being a more cautious outlook with a modest decline by the end of next week.

Namely, the combined prediction from GPT-5.2, DeepSeek, and Google Gemini 3 Flash placed Bitcoin at an average target of $79,264 on Friday, May 22, 0.82% below the current market price of $79,920.

The individual forecasts were generated using technical indicators, including MACD and stochastic analysis.

Among the models, ChatGPT delivered the only optimistic forecast, predicting Bitcoin could actually rise to $80,450, a gain of 0.66% from current levels.

Meanwhile, DeepSeek saw the cryptocurrency trading at $78,800, implying a 1.4% decline. Similarly, Google’s Gemini 3 Flash estimated ‘digital gold’ could fall to $78,542, marking a 1.72% decrease.

Stablecoins Are Becoming Payment Infrastructure, Not Crypto Assets
Stablecoins began as a narrow solution for crypto traders who needed a reliable way to move between volatile assets without exiting the market, but that original use case no longer defines their role in the financial system today.

What is happening now is a structural shift in how stablecoins are used, who is using them, and where they sit within the broader financial stack.

Over the past decade, stablecoins have moved through three distinct phases. In the early years, they functioned primarily as liquidity tools for trading, enabling faster movement of capital across exchanges. As decentralized finance expanded, they became core collateral instruments, supporting lending, borrowing, and yield generation strategies across crypto-native ecosystems. President Trump has thrown his weight behind suspending the federal gas tax, a move designed to ease the sting of fuel prices that have climbed past $4.50 per gallon for gasoline and $5.70 for diesel. The proposal lands as geopolitical tensions tied to the war in Iran continue to push energy costs higher.
The federal excise tax sits at 18.4 cents per gallon on gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon on diesel.
The legislative landscape
Sen. Josh Hawley, the Missouri Republican, introduced S. 4485, which calls for a 90-day suspension of the federal gas tax by setting it to zero.
On the Democratic side, Sen. Mark Kelly’s S. 4032 takes a longer view, proposing to suspend the gas tax until October 1, 2026. Rep. Brendan Boyle’s H.R. 8600 uses a different trigger entirely: the tax pause would kick in automatically when the national average price exceeds $3.99 per gallon.

Trump himself kept things characteristically vague on the timeline. “Yeah, I’m going to reduce… till it’s appropriate,” he said regarding the gas tax.

The $10 billion question

The federal gas tax feeds the Highway Trust Fund, which bankrolls road construction, bridge repairs, and transit projects across the country. Suspend the tax for a quarter, and the fund faces over $10 billion in lost revenue.

During state-level gas tax suspensions in recent years, studies showed mixed results. Some states saw prices drop by roughly the amount of the suspended tax. Others saw the savings partially absorbed by the supply chain before reaching drivers.
