The cryptocurrency market is usually characterized by technical moments, the exact points when a multi-month trend finally breaks and turns in a different direction. For $XRP, this may have occurred. A prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez reports that there was a significant indication on the daily chart of $XRP that has occurred for the first time since January to show a significant bullish change in direction from being bearish.

A new sense of optimism comes from the SuperTrend indicator, which is an indicator that can be used to identify the overall direction of the price action for any market to at least some extent. The SuperTrend indicator has flipped back into Bullish mode after being in Bearish mode since January 17. This suggests that the selling pressure on $XRP may have peaked, after months of negative momentum.

Decoding the SuperTrend Signal

SuperTrend is a lagging indicator because it uses both price movement and volatility, most often measured by the Average True Range, to determine trend direction. When it changes from red to green or closes below the price action of the daily candle, it is generally a sign that the trend has shifted from distributive to accumulative.

In the past, $XRP has been known to spend months consolidating before making a sudden move to the upside. The most recent signal comes after an extended period of declining resistance. With the trailing support floor now in place as a supporting technical benchmark for bulls, the chance of a sudden “fake-out” back into the $1.10-$1.30 range is reduced.

This article explores the legal implications and related laws of a hypothetical scenario where someone uses a quantum computer to steal Bitcoin.

The debate surrounding the quantumization of Bitcoin often veers off-topic because people are always discussing two distinct issues simultaneously.

One issue is technical: If quantum computing is powerful enough to crack Bitcoin's signature mechanism, how can the protocol respond? For example, new address types, migration rules, soft forks, abandonment mechanisms, key rotation, etc. This is indeed an engineering problem, but it remains an engineering problem.

The other issue is legal: Suppose someone uses a quantum computer to derive the private key of an old wallet and steals the Bitcoin within. What does this actually mean? Has he recovered abandoned property, or has he stolen someone else's Bitcoin?

In April 2026, the BIP-361 proposal recommended freezing over 6.5 million Bitcoins stored in quantum-vulnerable UTXOs, including an estimated 1 million Bitcoins associated with Satoshi Nakamoto. This is no longer just an abstract discussion, but a real struggle about ownership, forfeiture, and the meaning of property in a system that ultimately recognizes only control.

I don't intend to comment here on when a quantum computer capable of attacking Bitcoin will appear. The more specific question is paramount: if it does appear, and someone begins using quantum keys to transfer long-dormant Bitcoin, will the law consider it legitimate recovery or theft?

This answer will frustrate some Bitcoin holders because Bitcoin itself doesn't enforce ownership like a court does, but rather enforces control. If you can provide valid proof of expenditure, the network will accept the expenditure. But this highlights

Cardano Founder Challenges Bitcoin Recovery Claims In BIP-361 Plan
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has criticized the latest Bitcoin (BTC) proposal to protect vulnerable assets from quantum-computing threats. The three-step approach touted as a possible lifeline might face another setback due to Satoshi-era coins.
Hoskinson analyzed developments in the Bitcoin ecosystem, comparing solutions to those of top altcoins. The BIP-361, which seeks to save more than a third of Bitcoin’s supply, approximately worth over $536 billion, has come under scrutiny in recent weeks. 

The plan is expected to make all assets quantum-resistant to prevent losses likely to occur in the next five years. However, experts say freezing coins that don’t migrate to quantum-resistant addresses will not solve all problems.

In the coming months, the three-phase proposal will replace older signature schemes. Initially, inflows to quantum-vulnerable addresses will be blocked before legacy coins are frozen. The final phase is more contentious because it allows recovery of Bitcoins that missed their deadlines.

While it’s acceptable to many, it doesn’t account for coins held before 2013. These assets, about 1.7 million BTC, were created before the key generation of BIP-39.

“34% of all Bitcoin is vulnerable… and here’s your hard fork here. They don’t want to admit it, but this will require a hard fork. Users with frozen quantum vulnerable funds can construct a quantum safe product to recover funds… that’s a lie! And you know it. 1.7 million coins can’t do that. It’s not possible.”

Hoskinson and other critics noted that the plan could recover some of the assets, making it not an entirely bad proposal. He noted that inaction could result in massive losses if quantum computers breach Bitcoin’s cryptography.

The cryptocurrency market saw a sharp influx of capital over the past 24 hours as sentiment turned positive following days of uncertainty.

As of press time, the total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.61 trillion, marking a 24-hour increase of $100 billion from the $2.51 trillion recorded a day earlier.

Leading the rally, Bitcoin (BTC) climbed toward the $80,000 level, trading around $77,080 at press time and posting a daily gain of roughly 2.8%. The asset’s move higher coincides with a broader breakout after weeks of consolidation, positioning it near its highest levels since early February.

At the same time, Ethereum (ETH) rose about 3% to trade above $2,400, while XRP advanced approximately 2.4% to $1.47. BNB followed with a similar upward move, trading near $643.

The primary catalyst behind the surge was a sudden de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

On April 17, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz had fully reopened to commercial shipping under an ongoing ceasefire framework.

The development, further amplified by supportive commentary from President Donald Trump, triggered a sharp drop in oil prices of around 11%.
