Quiet But Meaningful Win For CryptoThat matters because Rule 15c2-11 governs certain information gathering and review requirements for broker-dealers that publish quotations for, or maintain a continuous quoted market in, securities in the OTC market. Prosecutors said Coberg abused his position as a deputy and helicopter pilot to assist Adam Iza, a crypto entrepreneur who referred to himself as “Crypto Godfather,” in targeting business rivals.

A former Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to more than five years in prison for using his badge to help a man extort rivals and engineer the false arrest of a business enemy.

Michael David Coberg, 44, received a 63-month sentence and was ordered to pay $127,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit extortion and conspiracy against rights, according to a Monday statement of the Department of Justice. 

Prosecutors said Coberg abused his position as a deputy and helicopter pilot to assist Adam Iza, a cryptocurrency entrepreneur who referred to himself as “Crypto Godfather,” in targeting business rivals.
According to the DOJ, the scheme unfolded in 2021 and involved multiple instances of intimidation tied to financial disputes. In one incident, Coberg accompanied armed associates to confront a victim and stood by while Iza used threats of violence to force the individual to transfer $127,000. The victim’s passport was confiscated during the encounter before being released.

Authorities also described a separate plot where Coberg and co-conspirators orchestrated a staged arrest. The group lured a victim from Miami to Los Angeles under pretenses, instructed the individual to obtain narcotics, and then arranged for law enforcement officers to carry out a traffic stop and arrest.

The institution has asked the government to allow digital financial assets to be issued on open networks like Ethereum, opening national businesses to international investments. Russia Sets Up Digital Assets As Vehicles For International Investment

The Central Bank of Russia is proposing a set of rules that would allow companies to issue digital financial assets on public networks, such as Ethereum.

According to local sources, the Central Bank of Russia Governor, Elvira Nabiullina, stated that these new rules would be important to attracting international investment and conducting international settlements.

Digital Financial Assets, which represent financial rights in digital form, are currently issued on domestic platforms that allow qualified investors to leverage these opportunities. But with these reforms, everyone will be able to invest in these assets, and they could be potentially listed on international exchanges and decentralized finance platforms.
This would allow Russian businesses to access international liquidity, tapping into a previously closed market and defeating sanctions to reach interested investors. Implementing blockchain technology and smart contracts would also simplify operations, reducing operational costs for issuers and customers.

While the digital financial assets law was passed in 2020, the market for this kind of offering is still small compared to the size of the traditional bond market, reaching only 2% of the corporate volumes, according to State Duma member of the expert council on the development of the digital economy, Valery Tumin.
