EACC head promotes AI, blockchain tech to African anti-corruption commissions


The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has urged African anti-corruption and oversight institutions to strengthen the use of digital technologies, including AI, blockchain, and data mining tools, to fight corruption and financial crimes more effectively.


EACC Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud stated that emerging technologies are important for detecting, investigating, and preventing corruption-related offenses. He noted that digital platforms can reduce human discretion and improve traceability, making it harder for corrupt practices to go unnoticed.


EACC moves toward full digitization to fight corruption


The EACC has already automated 58% of its processes and is working toward full digitization of its operations. It is supported by a robust ICT infrastructure and a technology-driven strategic plan.


The Commission also employs internally developed digital systems to enhance controls in resource management and uses digital forensic tools to extract, analyze, and manage evidence from electronic devices.


Mohamud said wider application of AI could further improve the analysis of large datasets. This would enable faster detection of suspicious transactions and patterns linked to corruption and fraud, while reducing investigation timelines.


He praised Kenya’s Digital Super Highway initiative. It has expanded internet connectivity and e-government services, thereby providing greater transparency in public service delivery.

Within a five-minute window, users attempted to liquidate the "phantom" assets, sparking a localized flash crash that drove the price of Bitcoin on Bithumb down to $55,000, while global markets held significantly higher.

This event serves as a stark reminder of the "fat-finger" risks inherent in centralized platforms. Moving forward, analysts predict that South Korean regulators will impose significantly stricter automated circuit breakers and "real-time audit" requirements for exchange reward systems.

Bitcoin (BTC) Data Affecting the Top 25 Banks in the US Released! What’s the Latest Situation?


As Bitcoin (BTC) adoption continues to grow, the number of major banks joining this trend has also increased significantly.


Bitcoin financial services firm River stated in its latest report that many major banks in the US are preparing to offer, or already offer, Bitcoin-related services.


River reported that approximately 60% of the 25 largest banks in the US have announced that they already offer or plan to offer Bitcoin trading or custody services.


In line with this report, Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US, also stated in Davos that his most important impression was that bank CEOs were beginning to adopt a more cryptocurrency-friendly approach.


Armstrong stated that in his meetings with unnamed bank CEOs, most were actually very receptive to cryptocurrencies and saw them as an opportunity, while a small number were not yet at that point.


The Coinbase CEO stated, “Some are still cautious, but most see cryptocurrencies as a significant business opportunity and a matter of survival. The CEO of one of the world’s top 10 banks considers cryptocurrencies a top priority and says it’s linked to the bank’s survival.”


River’s research noted that major US banks such as JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup are reviewing and making progress in offering and expanding Bitcoin and cryptocurrency services.
