David Sacks’s role as AI and crypto czar for President Donald Trump has ended after his 130-day term expired this month. However, his scorecard and ratings across the crypto community have been mixed.  

On Thursday, the venture capitalist told Bloomberg that he will be joining the President’s Council of Advisers on Science and Technology (PCAST) as co-chair.

Is Bitcoin’s dip below $70K the latest fakeout before its next move higher?

New wallets are entering, derivatives are still stable, and liquidity clusters are forming.
A key difference between bull and bear markets is how traders position around FUD. 

In a bear market, for example, highly overstretched derivatives positions indicate that traders are leaning heavily on speculation. On the other hand, during a bull market, conviction tends to hold strong. In this way, trader behavior around fear and uncertainty reveal the underlying trend.

Naturally, the question now is, where does Bitcoin [BTC] sit in this context? Technically, at press time, BTC seemed to be showing a bearish tilt after a volatile 48 hours. The price slipped by over 6%, breaking below the $70k-support level, with the crypto retracing back towards its early-March levels.
Still, there has been no sign of cascading liquidations just yet. 

According to Coinglass, Bitcoin’s long liquidations remain under $120 million, even lower than mid-March, when BTC dropped by 6.83% in the week after the FOMC meeting. This might mean that traders aren’t panicking yet, and the market may be digesting the move rather than capitulating.

This divergence is telling. Normally, a break below key support would trigger heavy deleveraging, forcing traders to close positions. Instead, the reaction has been contained, signaling that Bitcoin’s derivatives positioning hasn’t been overstretched despite the consolidation.

Notably, analysts have pointed out that this looks more like market repositioning, rather than outright dumping. In other words, traders may be adjusting their positions instead of panicking. If this interpretation holds, BTC’s recent pullback could actually be a textbook bear trap, a fakeout designed to shake out weak hands before the market makes a potential move higher.

Despite the drop in participation, $KITE’s circulating supply remains elevated at 1.8 billion tokens. This imbalance between supply and shrinking holder demand continues to weigh on sentiment.

At the same time, price action has weakened, with $KITE posting a double-digit loss of 11% over the past 24 hours as of writing. Trading volume, however, has increased. Historically, rising volume alongside falling prices signals strong bearish momentum, suggesting the downtrend may extend.

Peter Brandt Believes Further Bitcoin Decline to $49,000 Remain Possible
Market veteran Peter Brandt believes further Bitcoin declines remain possible amid a bear flag formation on the weekly chart.


Bitcoin has remained in a downtrend since its $126,000 peak in October 2025, with the price now hovering around $66,000 after losing 42% during the downtrend and 47% from its all-time high. In 2026 alone, Bitcoin is down 24.22%. 

Amid the downturn, concerns about whether the $60,000 level reached in early February truly marked the cycle bottom. Veteran trader Peter Brandt believes the correction may not be over, with his classical charting patterns suggesting further downside toward $49,000. 

Key Points

Bitcoin entered a sustained downtrend after peaking at $126,000 in October 2025, falling to around $66,000.

The price dropped from $126,000 to $80,000, rebounded to $97,000, then fell again to $60,000 in February 2026, forming a bearish structure of lower highs and lower lows.

Peter Brandt identified a bear flag or rising wedge pattern below the 18-week moving average.

Brandt projects a potential decline toward $49,285, arguing that Bitcoin follows traditional charting principles.

Other analysts believe the bear market could last six to seven more months, noting Bitcoin has not yet tested multiple key support levels.
