Cardano Returns to Top 10 as Crypto Market
In the last few hours, Cardano (ADA) officially returned to the group of the ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. This comeback was driven by a widespread rally that pushed its price up by as much as 8%. After being briefly displaced by the Hyperliquid ecosystem, the network founded by Charles Hoskinson reclaimed the tenth position with a valuation exceeding $10.34 billion, benefiting from renewed investor confidence in higher-risk assets compared to Bitcoin’s more moderate growth.

The return to the Top 10 coincides with a phase of technical and fundamental optimism for the network, marked by a 19% increase in Open Interest (OI) for ADA futures. Bitcoin is approaching a critical resistance level as the derivatives market clusters heavily around $75,000 call options, ahead of a major options expiry later this month.

Data from Greeks.live shows that quarterly options expiring on 27 March account for more than 40% of Bitcoin’s total open interest. This marks one of the most concentrated expiry events in recent months.

The buildup suggests traders are positioning for a decisive move as BTC trades just below the widely watched $75K level.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading around $73,600, putting the market within striking distance of the key options strike.

Bitcoin Options positioning centers around March expiry

The latest options data reveals a clear skew toward bullish positioning. Total call options stand at roughly 284,590 BTC, compared with 192,919 BTC in put options, leaving the put-to-call ratio at around 0.68.

A ratio below 1 generally indicates that traders are placing more bets on price gains than declines.

More notably, the 27 March expiry dominates the options landscape, accounting for roughly 41% of total open interest. A large portion of this exposure is concentrated in $75,000 call options, with single contracts at that strike representing more than 5% of total positioning.

Such concentration effectively creates a major derivatives battleground near the $75K level.

A “gamma wall” forming at $75K

Analysts from Greeks.live describe the buildup as a “gamma wall”, a scenario where a large number of options contracts cluster around a specific strike price.

When this happens, market makers’ hedging activity can significantly influence short-term price action.

Michael Saylor never misses a chance to talk about his firm, Strategy. In his latest post on X, he once again highlighted the company’s long-term plan of continuously buying Bitcoin [BTC].

He said,

Saylor even added a chart highlighting the company’s Bitcoin purchases over several years, hinting that the buying is far from over. For context, every orange dot in the chart represents one Bitcoin purchase made by Strategy.

Strategy’s Bitcoin buying spree

So far, there have been 102 purchase events by mid-March 2026. The orange line shows how Bitcoin’s price has moved over time, while a green dashed line shows Strategy’s average buying price, which is around $75,863.

When Saylor says “stretch the orange dots,” he means people should zoom out and look at the bigger picture instead of focusing on short-term price changes.

That said, Strategy currently holds 738,731 BTC, which is about 3.5% of Bitcoin’s total supply of 21 million coins. With Bitcoin trading near $73,000, the message suggests that Strategy may continue buying more Bitcoin and adding more “orange dots” in the future.

Analysts are divided

Needless to say, the company’s strategy is not only based on spare cash. According to analyst Lark Davis, Strategy has created a financial loop to keep buying Bitcoin.

It raises money by selling new shares or issuing convertible debt, and then uses that money to buy more BTC. In simple terms, it turns its stock into a tool to accumulate Bitcoin.

Remarking on which, Davis added,

It only works if Bitcoin keeps going up. Which means it’s either the greatest trade in history... or the most transparent gamble ever run.

Investors appear to support this strategy, as the company’s stock MSTR recently rose to about $139.67, showing confidence in its Bitcoin-focused approach.
