Robbie Mitchnick, the head of the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, said at the Digital Asset Summit in New York this Tuesday that big investors are rethinking their approach to crypto, signaling artificial intelligence (AI) as a more significant long‑term engine than simply launching more tokens, CoinDesk reports.

According to Mitchnick, since most tokens have short life cycles and limited long‑term value, client allocations are narrowing into a few core assets rather than broad altcoin baskets. As a result of this, institutional players are tightening their focus on bitcoin and ether, treating the bulk of remaining tokens as fleeting and mostly “nonsense”. “The majority of that is nonesense”, said Mitchnick himself.

Bitcoin rally hits wall as Iran clowns US talks

Bitcoin’s push toward $72,000 stalled after Iran rebuffed ceasefire chatter, insisting that no talks have occurred since the war began in late February, state media FARS reported Wednesday.

These comments directly oppose President Donald Trump’s claim on Monday that diplomatic talks were underway.

Citing the discussions’ positive tone, Trump announced a five-day pause on any military strikes against Iran’s power and energy facilities while negotiations continue to move forward.

Despite offers from regional and international mediators, Iran said it would continue its military defenses.

Bullish momentum faltered as Iran shot down reports of talks with the US.

According to TradingView, Bitcoin reversed on Wednesday after climbing to nearly $72,000 in early trading. The digital asset traded at $71,580 at press time, up about 1.5% in the last 24 hours.

Geopolitical uncertainty and a weak macro outlook are weighing on markets.

The Bitcoin vs. gold debate is back in the chatter. Since the West Asia crisis began, Bitcoin has reinforced its hedge against geopolitical tensions, posting an 8.5% gain. In contrast, gold has dropped 12%, defying expectations that, as a safe haven, it would rally during the war. 

In fact, gold has dropped twice as much as U.S. stocks (as tracked by the S&P 500, down 5.6%) over the same period. This was surprising given that gold outperformed BTC in Q4 2025 and early 2026. 

Commenting on the divergence, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted, 

A lot of people were dumping on Bitcoin for not being a safe haven about three months ago, and gold was. Well, the roles have been reversed. I think you shouldn’t judge these assets over weeks or months anyway.

He added that both are stores of value, noting that one is sturdy while the other is a little younger. In a separate post on X, Balchunas called gold ‘zero-correlated to stocks’ and a great diversified but ‘unreliable hedge.’

On March 24th, Arm launched its first self-developed data center CPU in San Francisco, marking a significant milestone in its 35-year history. This chip, named AGI CPU, features 136 Neoverse V3 cores, is manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process, has a 300W TDP, and Meta is its first customer, with large-scale deployment planned for this year. Partnerships with OpenAl, Cerebras, Cloudflare, SAP, and SK Telecom were also announced at the launch event.

Arm CEO Rene Haas presented target figures at the launch event, stating that the chip business aims to achieve $15 billion in annual revenue by 2031, with total company revenue reaching $25 billion and earnings per share of $9.

What do these figures mean? Arm's total revenue for FY2025 (ending March 2025) was $4.007 billion. According to Arm's annual report, licensing revenue was $1.839 billion, royalties were $2.168 billion, and the gross margin was 97%. In other words, a company with annual revenue of $4 billion is trying to achieve a scale approaching that of Intel's entire data center division within five years, relying solely on a new business. According to Intel's Q4 2024 financial report, Intel's DCAI (Data Center and Al) division generated $12.8 billion in revenue for the entire year of 2024.

NYDIG says Strategy’s rapidly expanding STRC issuance has become a meaningful new source of incremental bitcoin demand, but argues the structure is being widely misunderstood. In a March 20 research note, the firm said the preferred-stock complex around Strategy and similar vehicles such as Strive’s SATA should be viewed less as traditional corporate credit and more as a managed, bitcoin-backed liability system whose viability depends on capital markets access and investor confidence.

That distinction matters because Strategy’s latest bitcoin buying has increasingly been financed through preferred equity rather than through the instruments most investors traditionally associate with the company. According to NYDIG, Strategy issued roughly $1.2 billion of STRC over the past week alone, lifting total STRC outstanding to just over $5 billion. Combined with another $5 billion of preferred equity, the company’s total preferred stack now exceeds $10 billion and has overtaken convertible debt in its capital structure.

NYDIG Breaks Down The Bitcoin Flywheel

NYDIG’s central point is that STRC and SATA are “not well understood through the lens of traditional credit or equity.” Instead, the firm wrote, “they are best viewed as actively managed, capital markets–dependent liability structures backed by a reserve asset, bitcoin.” That framing runs through the entire note.

The report argues these securities differ materially from conventional debt. They sit junior to debt but senior to common equity, are unsecured, and come with variable, fully discretionary dividends and limited governance rights. Most importantly, NYDIG says issuers are actively trying to keep them trading near par, usually around $100, through signaling, dividend management and periodic adjustments to dividend rates.
