The prosecutors of the United States requested a judge to decline a request by former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried for a new trial, claiming that the jailed crypto official has not been successful in showing any legitimate new evidence.

The proposal of Bankman-Fried, filed in February by his mother on his behalf, cited new evidence to reopen a case in which a 2023 jury convicted him of fraud and conspiracy associated with the decline of FTX. He is convicted with a 25-year prison sentence.

In the February motion, Bankman-Fried claimed that two ex-FTX officials, Daniel Chapsky and Ryan Salame, could have questioned the narrative of the prosecutor that he cheated FTX customers had they borne witness.

The ex-CEOs argued that both rejected testifying because of the fear of retaliation. As per the Wednesday filing, prosecutors declined that argument, mentioning that the witnesses were completely known to the defence before trial; conveying testimony does not qualify as recently discovered evidence.

The Rejection of the Argument
The decision of the defence not to put the witnesses on his witness list or force their testimony precludes any argument that their post-trial views are recently discovered, the prosecutors stated.

The prosecutors also claimed that even if the testimony were looked at, it would not have changed the result of the case, as there was overwhelming evidence showing that Bankman-Fried shifted the transfer of billions of dollars in customer funds to Alameda.

The motion of Bankman-Fried also continued his prolonged argument that FTX was not bankrupt and that customers could eventually be repaid. The prosecutors rejected that argument, mentioning that FTX has a shortage of the cryptocurrency it promised customers, at one point holding around 105 bitcoin against customer claims nearing 100,000 bitcoin.

Solana’s daily technical outlook shows price trying to stabilize, but still without a convincing trend shift. On the Auto Pitchfork, SOL trades near $85.93 and sits below the median path of the channel. The recent candles hover close to the lower half of the structure rather than advancing toward the upper band.
That suggests the market is holding inside the broader channel, but not yet strong enough to reclaim the centerline as support. In simple terms, Solana is not breaking down outright, yet it also is not showing the type of directional strength that usually precedes a sustained move higher.

Also, the Advance Decline Ratio reading near 0.80 adds another useful detail. A lower ADR value points to subdued daily expansion, which means volatility has cooled and price is moving with less force than during earlier swings. 

Essentially, Solana may be entering a compression phase inside its channel, where support is holding for now, but momentum remains too muted to confirm a breakout. A stronger bullish case would likely require the price to push back toward the pitchfork median and hold above it, instead of continuing to drift in the lower half of the range.

A new research paper from ARK Invest and Unchained examines one of the most persistent questions in Bitcoin: whether advances in quantum computing could eventually break it’s cryptography.

The authors conclude that while the technology represents a legitimate long-term concern, it does not pose an immediate threat to the network. Published March 11 and authored by Dhruv Bansal, Tom Honzik and David Puell, the report argues that current quantum systems remain far from the capabilities required to compromise Bitcoin’s cryptographic foundations.

Bitcoin Quantum Threat Is Distant, Not Immediate
The paper’s central thesis is straightforward: quantum computing represents a real but gradual risk.

“Our two central arguments are as follows,” the authors write. “Quantum is a long-term risk but not an imminent threat. The community must continue to research and make plans for protecting the network as quantum computers improve.”

They add that even if breakthroughs occur, exploiting them against Bitcoin would be costly and slow. “If quantum computing were to affect Bitcoin’s cryptography, the process would be protracted and undertaken at meaningful cost to the attacker.”

In practical terms, the report notes that today’s machines fall well short of the scale needed to attack the elliptic-curve cryptography used by Bitcoin keys. Current devices operate in what researchers call the “NISQ era,” characterized by limited logical qubits and high error rates.

Breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography would require significantly more advanced systems. “To do so would require at least 2,330 logical qubits and tens of millions to billions of quantum gates,” the authors write, far beyond the roughly hundred-qubit systems typical today.
