Crypto exchange BitMart to wind down trading

platform by January 2027 BitMart will shut down its crypto trading platform through an orderly wind-down process after determining that current operating conditions, market circumstances and its long-term strategy no longer support continuing operations, the company said this week.

In a statement, the exchange said it will gradually stop accepting new users, suspend fiat and crypto deposits, prevent new futures positions and spot orders, and phase out copy trading, grid trading, API trading and other automated services beginning July 26, 2026.

Trading across spot and futures markets will cease on Aug. 26, while investment products including Earn, staking, lending and Launchpad will be retired separately. The exchange expects to officially cease platform operations on Jan. 31, 2027, although users will temporarily retain access to their accounts for withdrawals and historical records afterward

What Is the STABLE token for? A chain where fees speak USDT

StableChain’s product is Tether’s dollar: gas in $USDT, transfers in $USDT, yield in $USDT. Its native token does none of that, and holders own governance and staking rights over a network whose every cash flow is denominated in someone else’s asset. This is crypto’s value-accrual question in its purest form yet, and it deserves a straight answer.

Every blockchain token answers one question with its existence: why does this network need me? Bitcoin’s answer is total; the token is the point. Ethereum’s answer is functional: the token is the fuel and the bond. And the new generation of stablecoin chains has produced the strangest answer yet, embodied most cleanly by $STABLE, the native token of the Tether-ecosystem chain whose entire design philosophy is that users should never have to touch it.

On StableChain, gas is paid in USDT0, the omnichain version of Tether’s dollar. Balances are $USDT. Simple transfers are exempt from fees entirely. The yield products pay in dollar terms. A user can onboard, transact, build, and exit without ever knowing $STABLE exists, and that is not an oversight; it is the pitch: a payments chain where the volatile native token has been engineered out of the user’s path completely, which leaves the token itself standing in an interesting place.

$STABLE launched alongside the mainnet in December with two stated jobs, governance and staking, and a market price that implies belief in a third: that owning the token means owning something about the network’s future economics. This guide takes the question seriously from both directions: what the token actually does, mechanically, today, and what it would need to become for the belief to be right, because the gap between those two is where every dual-token chain’s story is decided.

Institutional investors are increasingly viewing Strategy’s STRC preferred stock as a mainstream income product rather than a specialized cryptocurrency-linked investment.

With a combined investment of $756 million, STRC has amassed the largest holding among the three main U.S. preferred stock exchange-traded funds (ETFs): BlackRock’s PFF, Virtus InfraCap’s PFFA, and VanEck’s PFXF.

Why is this a bullish sign?

This is noteworthy because these ETFs are frequently looking for steady income.

Hence, by allocating a significant amount of their portfolios to STRC, ETF managers have now exposed millions of investors to Strategy’s credit products.

This shows that, despite Strategy’s close ties to Bitcoin [BTC], the market is beginning to regard it as a reliable issuer of fixed-income securities.

Concerns and crictism remains

Interestingly, this occurs even though, at the time of publication, STRC was trading at $86.88, below the $100 mark. Furthermore, adding more stress to the matter, Phong Le, the current CEO of Strategy, stated that the retail side saw a decline in numbers.

As predicted, forever Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff used this opportunity to attack Strategy and said,

Yes, but that means retail investors sold for a loss. My guess is the institutional buyers bought in for a short-term trade only. Or maybe they shorted MSTR and bought STRC as a spread trade. Maybe they bought STRC and shorted Bitcoin. None of those trades are bullish bets.

Is the broader market helping STRC?

While all of this is going on, Bitcoin, which was trading near $65k, declined by 2.28% in the past day and was back at $63,934.94 at press time.
